foot and achilles issue, need advise

So this getting old stuff sucks donkey balls. For the past year I've been dealing with this strange issue primarily in my achilles tendon area and occasionally my foot, especially near the heel. The primary issue is the achilles though. It isn't an injury it comes and goes. I'd liken it to almost arthritis or maybe severe inflammation. It tends to "flair" up mostly when I've been seated for a long time but sometimes is completely random. Sometimes it is just one leg and not both. Sometimes just getting moving and it eases up...others I'm walking around like an old man. Tonight I had a double whammy as had done cardio and a leg workout THEN went out and hiked for 2 hours...getting up from dinner I looked like I was 80!

What the heck is going on? What could be causing this. My lady thinks its extreme inflammation but why does it primarily rear its head after I have sat? A friend thinks its from years of Test use that has weakened my tendons? I've tried needling, cupping, I use a ton of ointment stuff including dmso and arnica. I've had circulation issues to my legs since i was young and in the past I've had vascular surgery (HELL) on one leg. My vein surgeon said I pump blood down efficiently but not back up (says its genetic not age).

Sorry for the rambling but I truly need advise. Any fix I've tried is only temporary and it comes back, sometimes in the middle of doing what I love most (outdoor adventuring). For those of you who know me know I wouldn't be asking if I hadn't tried to look for answers for over a year!

Damn brother... I was going to say dmso with aspirin crushed in it but sounds like you tried all that.

for starters get some graston work done on the area the foot and calf. maybe have them hook you up with some kt taping along with it. one of those foot roller things like dzone mentioned in one of his posts could help when seated for an extended period of time.

sounds like you are pretty good when active and it is mostly aggervated by sitting. i would be willing to bet your knees in a bent position are causing it to tighten up on you. maybe stretching it out every so often and or stretching out your legs could help a little bit. you already know about tumeric and all the other anti inflammation supps to toss in to help. something else that just popped into my head would be to check your foot wear and inserts. that aggervates my feet ankles and achilles when mine start to wear out. just tossing out ideas

I appreciate all your ideas. Some I’ve tried some I will revisit.

I have referred to one of my most used resources I own. I have a firm believer in that a large percent of our pain comes from trigger points that refer to other areas. Do some reading on tibialis posterior trigger points and You Tube has good ways to self release. The symptoms are always "just that". If we can find the cause then that is a bonus but we know that sometimes is not found.

No pain radiating down the leg? Only asking because the sitting part seems to make it worse?

Guns swears by the graston and I haven't has a chance to try that but he is always on the money with advice.

Here are a couple things I find helpful and I have tried many things to cope with my pain for the past decade.

Try the leg up the wall pose to help get that blood going back up your legs. Use pillows for eas on your low back or neck, if needed.

When you are out on those great hikes...take off those boots and socks and get your feet on the dirt, grass pr sand.

Now those are just 2 simple things, that many do not open their mind too BUT, grounding is for real when it comes to pain.

Legs Up on Wall - Post Workout Recovery

I was on here about a year ago posting about this same thing. I was limping everywhere and could not run at all. My right achilles was killing me. For at least 6 months. The good news is these things can resolve and heal completely. I dont think its from taking test. Ive been on test for 20+ years. I didnt do anything for my Achilles except stretching and supplements, so there is hope for your tendon. I have no more achilles pain and I can run full speed. It will heal if given the right environment. Good luck

my gh is drying up so I gotta deal with arthritis and tendonitis again. if circulation is an issue do what I do, get off your ass and shovel out your neighbor before work : )

its such an out of no where post. I must have been imagining things. I would delete or edit it if I could. I am doing well and getting back to my normal crazy behavior lol

i feel you on the old man thing. i had two orthopedic surgeon visits this month. saw a PA for my knee on the 21st and the surgeon for my right shoulder yesterday. knee from what the PA says is arthritis most likely. he tried to warn me away from leg extensions but phuk that. i had done my usual leg routine of leg extensions for 5 sets and on set 4 went to failure and tried to squueze out a few more reps and felt pressure. did leg curls for 5 sets after that and then leg presses relatively light for 800 pounds and then leg oress calf raises for 720 and felt pretty good but later knee swelled up so iced the shit out of it and next day from a seated position every time i got up it felt like knee was almost locked in place and an audible pop every time i straightened the leg to stand. swelling has come down and PA said the less loud popping is just the arthritis or the tendons rubbing over the arthritic joint.
similar shoulder issues, scheduled me an mri after a cortisone shot yesterday to see if there is a partial tear but after the preliminary strength and resistance exam he did with no real weakness or pain he thinks it might be arthritis and bone spur like he removed from my left shoulder when he fixed my RC tear last September (2017) so after mri i might be looking at a monor arthroscopic cleanup of bone spur and smoothing out the joint unless he sees something worrisome on the mri regarding a tear. yes getting old really REALLY sucks major balls

Just an update but its looking like rheumatoid arthritis and since I'm in tune with my body I caught it way early...problem being catching it early doesnt bring money in! So now I have to wait for it to get worse before they will do anything.

graston graston graston or iastm. you are cheating yourself by not getting it done and it will alleviate damn near every bit of the issues. i slacked for a while on mine and got all fucked up again. been going in every 3 weeks and after 3 sessions full body, i feel 100% better and everything is firing smoothly again
