yep, that's a fact. cool thing about where i live is i am surrounded by a ton of different facilities that have all kinds of different stuff. all close enough that it's not that bad of a drive to hit them
I know exactly what you mean bro. My wife thinks I'm funny, but one of my favorite things when I travel is trying out different gyms in different places. Seeing what all equipment they have.
I love doing this, too! I found this great indeoendent (not a franchise) gym in Houston in November near where my stepson lived at the time. Level One Fitness, it was called. I disremember the guy's name who owned it, but real friendly guy. It reminded me of the place where I first started training in the 80's.
Last time we were in Houston, my stepson had moved, and I went to a different place, a 24 Hour Fitness. I liked it there, too, but I prefer the little independent places, generally. Though there seem to be fewer of those all the time.
We went to a Gold's in Salt Lake City a few years ago that was a really cool place. It was in a relatively old building and was on 2 floors. It had an "independent hole-in-the-wall feel" while being a big-name chain. That was really cool, too.
