PTSD is a mofo!!!

I am an Army Veteran and I gotta say I never actually accepted my baggage that I claimed from the military till a few years after I got out. My wife begged and begged for me to go see someone and get diagnosed. I fought it like a rock heard for a long time, but then finally sought help. I am now 50% service connected with my disability. And right now I am having a bad time. Night terrors are at a all time high and any daily things that may cause stress are amplified times 10. Just feeling really down and out at the moment and hate when these feeling consume me. Some times I just want to break down and just screw it with the world. Sorry for the rant, but some times this helps me relieve some emotions by putting it in words. Hope this wave of hopelessness goes away soon because it is consuming me at the moment.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. My cousin had been diagnosed with ptsd after Desert storm. I hope you feel better very soon

we got your back man. if the va isnt providing you with all the resources and attention you need make sure to give the wounded warriors and or vfw a call. they will get you and your wife any and all the assistance that you could need. they are fast too, they dont mess around like the va does

I have no idea what you are going through bro. Just continue to get help. My one of my best friends and co worker is a former Marine. He said it took a long time and a lot of work on his part but he is finally at peace 7 years later.

I guess what I get out of that is do not give up, take little steps forward, it is a long road but one worth traveling for you and your loved ones.

Try and get the best resources for help

I am trying. I just feel as though the more I talk about the things that haunt me the more they come to mind and become an issue. I feel like it's almost a double edged sword. I hoping time heals these things. The worst is seeing faces of people that no longer exist in broad daylight in others faces. I almost feel like I'm not even me some times.

First and foremost thank you for your service, secondly seeing help definitely doesn’t make you less of a man and I commend you for doing so. I can’t imagine what you are going through but if you ever need to vent or just simply talk about the weather feel free to pm me. I’m sure most the guys here would do the same.

And it does make me feel better to see support from perfect strangers. I may come off as a whack job right now, but I'm just being honest with myself right now. I wish what I have gone through and what I am currently going through on no person because the weight of these issues could easily burry me. Having the support of my wife and family and hearing things like this make me push harder. I thank you guys with the bottom of my heart. It does mean alot whether you believe it or not.

if you have good private insurance, try to find a good therapist. I'm fortunate to have good private healthcare. I seen a therapist for 5 years straight every week. Now I only go as needed. I did some cognitive therapy that ill admit, I didn't like it,it seemed to ease some of the thoughts, feelings, but no therapy can take that shit away. I personally just learned to deal with it and live my life. You are not alone. I also learned that certain compounds I use would trigger me. Don't ever hesitate to reach out.

Listen buddy, we are not strangers on this board. We all have something in common that binds us together no matter how diverse our experiences are. We care about each other here. Most of the best friends I have are here, even though I have only personally met a handful of them. You have your wife and family and us. You WILL get through this difficult time.
