What got me wondering is that I have been eating a huge amount of macadamia and pistachios , which have helped me get lean, but was starting to wonder just how much sodium I am getting. Those nuts without salt taste totally different. I hate to say it, but salt makes everything taste better. I guess I can start ordering unsalted nuts and maybe get used to it .blah lol
I feel it is a very essential mineral but like anything, must not be over done. there was a time that I watched it so much and with all the water I drink, my sodium level dropped to low. I am betting you sweat a lot when you train and if you still feel good, I wouldn't worry about it
i eat the hell out of mustard and sodium. for me personally it helps me stay full and keeps me crisp. if i were to guess in the off season i would say probably 4-6g a day give or take. i also sweat quite a bit normally so i need a little extra to keep my electorlytes good to go. in my younger days i had a hell of a hard time with water retention and had to limit sodium but as i have gotten older i need more.
if you want to play around with it. take a look a couple hours after consumption. then take a peak first thing in the am as soon as you get up. if you a nice and full and got good lines showing, then you are good. if you are blurring out a bit then pull it back. sodium is damn hard and tricky to manipulate
I never worry about sodium unless my BP is up. One thing I do believe in is if your adding salt to meals while cutting or bulking keep the amount consistent each meal.
