Pain in shoulder,and forearm
I was wondering if there was any one out there that knew more than me about injuries. I think I have tennis elbow or tendonitis. Have pain in my front delt and in the top of my forearm which I'm pretty sure the forearm pain is related to the shoulder pain. 2 questions, does anyone have any idea what this could be? Secondly will wearing a compression wrap on my forearm help this at all? As always I appreciate all feedback..

Re: Pain in shoulder,and forearm
Could be tendonitis. sounds like it! you probable could get a shot for the immediate PAIN,STRESS but need to take some down time to allow to heal.
In the forearm does it feel like a large cord . I had to have muscle stripping performed. it wasn't pleasant.
Muscle Stripping*involves deep tissue manual therapy to clear out the adhesions (scar tissue) formed inmuscle*fiber during physical activity. The technique is more effective than a deep tissue massage or a sports massage, as it elongates the*musclesand removes the knots.

Well that is the last thing I wanted to hear but sometimes the truth hurts and I would rather you keep it real. My wife switched jobs but I believed our insurance kicked in at the beginning of the month I'm on my way home from work now so I'm going to check if so I will make a doctor's appointment ASAP.. since most General Practitioners aren't that smart when it comes to stuff like this I'm going to ask your opinion. Should I ask him for an MRI or a better question would be how can they tell if you have a torn bicep or a torn labrum?

Well a MRI is expensive even with insurance maby ask for a sonogram they should be able to detect a rip or tear with it.i had a torn abdominal muscle it felt bad they found my tear with the sonogram.i am not trying to scare u by any means just better safe than sorry brother.

I definitely understand brother. The only thing is I would think that if something was torn it would be a little more painful it is only painful if I flex and then it is only in the form not really the shoulder. I can feel it in my shoulder if I lift my arm above my head or if I'm benching or trying to do hammer curls then the pain really hurts, but like right now not doing anything just sitting here I can't feel anything. I don't know if that can mean anything or not..

Re: Pain in shoulder,and forearm
i had a crap load of damage in my shoulder and put it off way to long to visit a doctor to find out what i did to it.. surgery was my one option.. check it out with a doc piece of mind is worth it

yes be careful .. these really can be symptoms for both rotator and/ labrum.
be careful often times this type of thing is misdiagnosed. when I found out I had a labrum tear.( 3 to be exact) in the left shoulder. I was originally diagnosed with rotator injury. MRI is probable your best bet. but through insurance they will have you do xrays first. they always do. so don't get upset when they send ya for xrays when you need an MRI its there procedures.

with my labrum. I could work out. but certain exercises I had to avoid. raising my arm was a problem. more so when I would raise my arm outstretched to the side. I couldn't raise my arm above my head that way. bench caused major problems. pulldowns were outta the questions. again because my arms were in the outstretched position.
forearms- reverse curls become harder and more painful. I would keep lightening the load but it just be one harder and more painful.
my shoulder was so bad I couldnt sleep. I remember falling asleep one time with my hand on top of my pillow and my head on my hand. now my good arm was down by my side. my shoulder come out of the socket . I couldn't get up. I had to yell for someone to come and finally when they came they had to gently roll me over. it was very painful

Any pain to the hand/ fingers? many of times where you feel the pain is actually referred from a primary site. It could be referred from the shoulder and even from cervical spine. I have had EEGs for this type of pain and it revealed pinched nerves in my neck radiating down to the hand with also has carpal tunnel. The doc called is crush double brush injuries meaning it started in the neck and entrapped nerves in the delt, forearm and then to the fingers. Carpal tunnel can also radiate up and cause pain in the area you are having. then there are those damn trigger points...ugh and we all have them. What have you done to help this so far?

yes agreed. sometimes we wait to long and complicate the situation .I worked with my shoulder that way for 8 months.
I then formed alot of scar tissue and the bone become chipped and jagged. felt like tiny sharp teeth would stick me sometimes

So far I haven't done anything except ice and rub my forearm and shoulder. However my wife just ordered me a compression wrap for my forearm. Also I have no pains in my wrist or fingers it is Well the best way to explain it about an inch long of pain in my front delt and then another inch long pain on the top of my forearm.. one thing I noticed is it does not hurt as bad doing regular curls but when I switch migrate do Hammer curls it hurts like hell.. I don't know if that tells you anything and I am bad at describing stuff like that..

you shouldnt really have pain or numbness in the fingers(outer 2 or three) unless your dealing with a pinched nerve so to speak. like a trapped ulnar .
this is another subject all together thou. i dont wanna tie up your thread with my previous problems.

Re: Pain in shoulder,and forearm
bigmills, I hope you get to a doc and get this checked out. You asked at the right place. People here help each other more than docs have:). keep us posted

Where my hand is facing upward and I flex it the only place I can feel pain is in my brachialis however when I turn my hand like I'm doing a hammer curl and flex it runs from the brachialis down into the forearm so I'm thinking that's what it is..

yes I definitely would do as baby and MM have suggested . and go be seen by your Dr asap. its hard to believe there so many muscles in the forearm. and underlying muscle we don't even see.
I hope we all have helped you somewhat. the Dr will perform a grip strength test probable . have you squeeze his fingers , also have you try pushing upward as he pushes down on the back of your hands. he might actually give you a device to measure your grip strength. I had this also when at physical therapy.
