Chiropractors - Your Experiences
Been thinking about going to a Chiropractor for the first time.
Im over 40 and have been lifting almost all of my adult life.
I also have had 2 hip surgeries and my lower back is jacked from compensating for my bad hips all my life.
For those that use a chiropractor, what do you see as the benefits?
How often do you go? I have a coworker that goes once a month and swears by it.
I just need some experienced feedback.
Thanks Push
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
i use two different types of treatments. i go to the chiro once a month and up to once a wk for my back and hips. i also do graston technique work. now i had graston done on my leg for a knee injury and had it done on my back years ago(never finished it on my back). so fast forward to now. i had my first session with my lady and after she did the first work on my entire back, upper glutes hips and internal/external obliques it opened my spine up 2in. i had zero low back pain squatting or dead lifting from that session on. i have it done every 3 wks and i have one more back session and then we will be switching to my legs and only do my back every other month or when it is needed. cool thing about it is since i have started having it done correctly i have no need for the chiro anymore because everything is lined up and working how it is supposed t work. i highly highly recommend graston work anywhere you have or are having issues with
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
i should add this little story in about a lady i know from the gym. this lady does the marathon, tiratholons and all that running stuff. well she jacked up her foot really bad was in a boot and they were telling her she was going to need surgery for whatever they said her issues were. i told her to call the graston lady and go in and see what she could do. low and behold it wasnt what they were wanting to cut on, it was something entirely different that she broke up and fixed. she was running normal 3 days later and will only need a couple more treatments to be back 100% with no cutting involved whatsoever.
i even have my wife doing it for a jacked up shoulder blade that bothered her so bad she couldnt sleep at night. one treatment and she is sleeping and moving much much better. she thinks she will only need maybe 1-2 more treatments for the impingement to be fully corrected. the work is freaking unreal

THEY ARE LIFE SAVERS FOR ME!
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
Chiropractors are very different from one to the next. Not all are the same. The differences can be extreme. Like night and day. Buyer beware. The good ones are excellent. The bad ones are in it strictly to make money and will rob you blind. There are quacks. Just like most other professions.
I tell people to find a Chiropractor who is certified in ART. They are ususally more patient focused than money focused. Sometimes. Gotta shop around. activerelease.com
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
i have seen 3 for the same problem in my back, none have helped. they were all well respected and recommended by people i trust but it just did not help me. was a $$$ pit that gave me no relief.
i wish they would help
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
If a Chiropractor tries to put you on a 6 month treatment plan for a simple low back strain, I would tell him to go to hell
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
I agree with the statements above, make sure to do research before choosing. I was in a car accident, and was sent to one the insurance company recommended. I had to do 40 something treatments over a few months.
The good chiropractors will massage you some, loosen your next and back before the treatment. The ones who are trying to make as much $ as quickly as possible, will adjust you with no warm up. That feeling to me sucks, and I didn't like it.
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
before doing any chiro work brother look around and see if anyone does the graston technique work in your area. give it one treatment just one before you go or do anything else. i pay out of pocket for mine and i have full coverage insurance if that tells you anything. i can go through my docs and have it done for free but i choose to forgo the hassle of refs and just pay for it myself. it isnt expensive at all either
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
Been to a couple, absolutely no help. Just my experience. But I do know some who get great relief I guess it's caveat emptor
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
My chiropractor is the best !!! I go see him once a month if not twice , depending on what's bothering me !!!
He also does acupuncture , which for me is SO worth it .
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
So I searched locally at grastontechnique.com and was directed to a local chiropractor.
Evidently he is trained in graston technique.
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
You just need to ask around and find out if they really know what he/she is doing. Some will hurt you worse but a real good one can make you feel like a new man after a few visits. Where I used to live, I had one and went twice a week for a while when I hurt my back doing deads. It helped me recover alot faster than if I had did nothing.
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
Have to go a healing chiro, one that regularly looks at your atlas and takes X-rays quarterly to see if adjustments are improving the spinal function. I see a chiro 3 times a week. It's helped me tremendously
Re: Chiropractors - Your Experiences
I have some friends that swear by them and others that avoid them like the plague lol. I guess it depends on the person and the chiropractor. I've been contemplating on going myself, but just haven't made the leap. I'm definitely looking into the graston technique Guns mentioned. The more I read about it, the more I think that would be the most beneficial for me.
