Re: Siatic nerve Problems
use a foam roller and roll out your glutes, hams quads etc. many of times it is cause by a tight a small muscle called the piriformis or tight low back and other muscles. the pain down the leg is referred pain.. You are probably loaded with trigger points. Roll, hydrate, lay off the motion of bringing the knee up like when you do stairs or elliptical, for a while till it feels better. Also don't sir for long amounts at a time when it is flared up
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
It can be so many things and points it's coming from! The first thing any Dr will tell you is... stretch stretch.. so like baby said, stretch. Having said that though, you should see a Dr! Back pain is hard to pinpoint some times but you'll be thankful you went in the end. I lived with crippling back pain when I was 25 for 3 years before they found out what it was and what they were going to do about it. I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes at a time. The gym was out, no sports, Nothin! Saw chiropractors, acupuncturist... turns out it was a pinched nerve coming out of my hip bone are cavity (kinda hard to explain in words where it was). The bone cavity was built up with calcium and arthritis closing the nerve off. The nerve was black and almost completely gone by the time they did surgery. A year later I felt like I was a teenager again, running and jumping, working out, playing sports... Every now and then there is some pain but nothing like it was! Go see a doc! Good luck.
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
Ibu and a heat pad works well and the foam roller like baby said.
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
i have stupid bad issues with mine due to being blown up and compressing my 3 lower verts. the only things i have found that help me the most is pretty much on line with what baby1 said. i hit my rumble roller after a 10 min warmup daily. i stretch out my lower back and hips afterwards. i also do art, chiro thearpy, deep tissue and lots of lower back work. i dont know if yours is bad as mine is but when my gets really annoyed with me i cant put weight on my left leg and pretty much walk bent over. salon paas patches, creams artic balm and ice help out tons also
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
any groin pain with this Allison? When I had real bad sciatic pain, it was actually coming from my messed up hip. After surgery it improved a lot but I still do get it. Groin pain is a big sign of hip joint issues.
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
Piriformis muscle can do that. There are things you can do and practitioners who can treat it. Some people get better using an inversion table, if you want the diy way. Look up piriformis syndrome and see if thats what it is.
Then there is the John Sarno, MD approach which is interesting. I think everyone suffering from some type of back pain should check it out
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
Im in Guns' boat. in the military i royally jacked up my back and everything i do throughout my day revolves around my back. Walking up stairs? give me a minute to walk a little back and forth in my living room to get warmed up lol. Pain meds on the daily. Good luck man. Its never an easy fix when it comes to your back.
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
I agree with baby1 as well, try using a foam roller. My girlfriend gets sciatic nerve pain pretty bad to where she can barely walk sometimes. The foam roller seems to help a lot with some good stretching.
Re: Siatic nerve Problems
that's to bad. all back issues are hard on workouts but it helps a lot. or you can go to physical therapy

Agree with many above. I've been working injured for a month and destroy things further each week. Ironically, many people who get hurt are presented with a sheet of exercises to address the problem. For the common sense in most of us, I urge the FG community to teach others how to use a foam roller proactively. Why wait for injury?! Also, there are a number of variations in foam rollers; density, length and even contour surfaces. I have been doing 30 mins in hot tub, shower and then foam roller with some yoga daily (prior to and following workouts). Making huge comeback!

Any tips or idea, I have had it for a while.
Having a pinched nerve especially your siatic nerve really sucks.
Go to YouTube many good insrtuctional videos on special stretches and exercises. Sometimes simple rest and ice works until the flare up dies down.
