I was away on a 3 day course, and got into argument with the Dr

So i went away for a 3 day course called: Functional Muscular Assesment and graduated exercise methods.

We got to a portion of the course where the Dr. broke down the dead lift......very informative to be honest up until she showed us how to perform a DEAD lift.
Well holy fck she started doing a squat!!! She had the olimpic bar, but her glutes were so far back, and her spinal cord was so far BACk, that the muscles she was working WERE the quad and NOT a dead lift., She called it: suit case dead lift.

So I kind of rasied my hand and said, that Dr is the perfect squad.....MANY of the trainers there gave me two thumbs up of course.

Well she looked at me and said: don't worry about it, this is a dead lift.
So by now I am about to lose it.

And I said: Don't worry about it?
I do worry about it Dr, I don't want to be rude, but let's call THAT what it is, a squat.
She practically told me to shut my mouth....and she kept going.


She then showed us a VIDEO of a collegue who was performing a DEAD LIFT: which was A FREAKING SQUAT.

So again, I said: "oh he is doing a squat too"

She said, it was not really matter what he is doing, I am just trying to show you the pattern of the movement...blah blah blah.

I almost walked out of there!!!! But I had paid 700.00 for that course, and I wanted to prove my point. So I played nice guy.


today I pulled her aside privately, and explained to her, that she had some great material to show us and teach us, but that there was NO way in this world, she was going to tell a group of people, some is us have been around for a good number of years, things that weren't right.

So i said, for the sake of an argument, i am going to show you a supine squat with my arms, and we are not going to call it bench press, but we will call it: supine hand squat with the arms.
She laughed her ass off---so we were cool gain, but I just wanted her to admit, that what she had she had to call the right name to the right movement pattern.


There were several things she said during the 3 days course, that did not make any sense...but I guess everytone has their own theory.


Show me a squat for Gods sakes!!!!
