Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
I had the exact pain and then it went all the way down to my foot. The groin painusually means it is coming form the hip joint. I had a hip labrum that was shredded along with the ball in th socket having a bump on it. Had to have surgery which got rid of the groin pain but still have some of the other but it is from my lower lumbar spine. Could very well be the hip. i woild get a hip xray as you can see this consition called Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) on an xray but it won't shoe the labrum. Here is some info on it:
Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)
Stay away from the stairmaster, squating, lunging etc till you feel better

**** Wikipedia. I got baby1pedia
Thanks, something to look into. I want to avoid any surgery at all costs, unless 100% absolutely necessary.
Pain is worst in the mornings when my muscles are the tightest. Doctor thinks my muscles need more flexibility and the tightness in the morning is pulling on my lower back causing the nerve to increase in pain.
Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
lol, I just distinctly remeber them telling me that groin pain comes from the hip joint. My pain got so bad that if they told me no surgery, I would have cut my leg off, lol. I could look at your hip xrays and tell you if you had it! The problem is when the radiologists reads the xray, many of them miss this. The one whoe read mine did and when I went to the hip ortho, he saw it right away. They did a cortisone injection directly into the hip joint and if a patient gets some reliefe from it, that helps them know that somethig is going on in the joint. Sitting was one of the worst postions for me especially when I went to get up. Good luck to you.
Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
I deal with sciatica nerve issues with my clients all the time. And including MYSELF for a while now.
Whenever there is a s'lipped' disk, this will pressure the sciatic nerve, disk l4, l5???...S joint.
chiropractor treatment and or diagnostic will help tremendously. Do not try to solve this on your own.
Perhaps movement of the pelvic may be needed (adjusting of).
Yes stretching generally helps, but if there is a disk that's damaged more than simple stretching will be needed.
Get some x-rays done. Could be related to the spinal cord. Don't wait too long!

Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
Chiropractic care sadly is not covered in my insurance. Ill have to find a local one that I can trust. I am by no means trying to solve this myself. I love my doc and he knows my body pretty well(no homo, yes I said it, no homo).
Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
If there is an issue with the hip joint, especiallt a tear or impingement, the chiro won't help at all

It would be hard to diagnost, generally the questions that will help out are some such as:
-when does the pain happen?
-WHAT area? back behind the glutes?? Does it ratiate all the way down the posterior ?
-Does the pain radiate towards the middle part of the foot? Or is more towards the smaller toe?
-When he gets up, does he feel tingle sensation down the foot?
-Is it both sides?
-Is there a severe pinching of the lower back, while he deadlifts, or bends over?
Too many questions.
An x ray will reveal the issue, whether the disk (s) are damaged, or adjusting of the pelvic, or hip may be needed.
An x-ray will also show signs of deteriorating (arthrities to the area, and what phase 1, 2 or 3)
If the sciatic nerve is pissed off, it is for a reason. Could be piriformis syndrome as well...I mean there are many possibilities.
Depending on when and WHERE the pain happens.
I am not a doctor or anything like that, I have dealt with this issue for many years on clients however.

P.S. some bodybuilders and power lifters are known for NOT stretching :D

Re: Sciatic Nerve healing
You are right B2j, but I had labralt ear and impingment and all these symptoms. Piriformis, sciatic, leg pain etc are also symptoms of FAI. An xray cleary shows an impingement also
