My bike was my freedom and only way to get around town. I rarely see kids on bikes anymore. I think the last time I saw one I was driving past some town owned half pipe. Kid probably drove his bike there in his car lol. I see adults in sperm suits getting in the way of my car alllll the time tho.
we have a lot of kids in our neighborhood that do. they are mostly punks whose parents run them off for the day so they dont have to deal with them. their are tons of adults that ride their bikes around our city for transpo though
There are still a lot of kids on bikes. The there are parents who send them by Uber, taxi etc. I am Uber Mom and I am good with that .
saw an elliptical bike today. I will look for a picture. It was kinda cool.
Man I saw a guy riding one of those around the park one time. It actually looked pretty cool.
when I was a kid you rode a bike to get anywhere within 5 miles. Now "it's too hot", "I am tired from playing video games", "It's too cold", "that will tire me out"
Kids are *****es. I mean I had it a lot better than kids growing up the generation before me for sure and so on. But now these lil fat lazy fuckers waddle from the kitchen with a bag of cheetos and a soda to play video games all day, got no paper route, don't play outside, they have a shelf of trophies they did not earn...............
WEAK!
I rode my old beater bike growing up but it wasnt fast enough to escape the bullies. They would just grab me and pull me off and beat the shit out of me. Usually because I was the only white kid they knew who they could beat up.
like jipped said we rode our bikes every where.. to a friends house to the local mall and every were in between.. i remember years ago my sister in law(brothers wife) said her son couldnt mow the grass because it was to hot outside.. i was like huh but my brother can do it when he gets home from work?
and this is her son who is now 29 and still living at home.. i talked to my brother last night and told him he was a better man then me bc i would have thown his ass out and if she didnt like she would be next. i will give my brother props they did make him pay rent but damn man grow up and be a man...
hell built my first house when i was 22 and my parentts didn't know it until 2 week before it was done.. guess thats just me and the drive i have..
lol man its funny you say this.. my brother and i did the same thing growing up we didnt put it behind our bike we just push the mower around the neighborhood knocking on doors asking if they wanted there yard cut.. we used my dads mower and weedeater but had to buy our gas.. we wanted to buy a go cart and our mon said we could if we saved the money.. the go cart was $300.00 we worked all summer cutting grass and saved the money and then asked our dad to go get it because if we asked our mom she would have came up with another issue why we couldnt have it because she didnt want us to get.. man she wasnt happy with my brother and i and our dad came home with that thing in the back of the truck...
you tell a 12 year old to do that now and you would see deer in the headlight look in there face and hear do what?
Same kinda thing happened to me except a dirtbike and I worked as a short order cook all summer. Guess how I got to work, a bicycle lol. I still remember exactly the make, model, year, color, 1 down 4 up, everything about that dirtbike. I bet you remember that go cart so as well.
lol man you are so right.. i remember the throttle cable got froze up so we hooked a string to it so we could still ride it and it shut off so i put it at half throttle and in the middle of the street with just shorts on no shirt or shoes i started it up and it took off with me behind it holding on to the starting rope and i got it worked out and it hit a tree and broke the frame.. had to find a friends dad who could weld it.. another time i was riding down a trail and hit a cabbage tree.. looking back at it my mom was right we shouldnt have gotten it but man what great times...
Yamaha RT 100 white and red. Smashed that bike into a ditch and went right over the handle bars. Crushed my nuts and bent the frame. Thought I was gonna need a welder but that dirt bike was made to take a beating. Put the wheel between my legs, twist the handle bar, and fixed lol. That bike was the reason for my first gas syphoning. There was a hose that attached the gas cap to the bike so it didn't get loose and lost from all the beatings. It was probably a hose for just that reason lol. I made a lot of riding friends in those days. Trying out each others ATV's was fun. All we wore were helmets too. Everything else was just plain old regular clothes. And if someone got stuck, usually the quads and trikes, we all stopped to get them unstuck and keep on riding until dark. No lights on dirt bikes.
a few years after the go cart we saved some more money and got a used YZ125 man that thing was a blast.. we could never get the gas mixed right and we burned up more pistons we lost count.. when you took that thing for a ride you rode with an extra spark plugs and a crescent wrench bc the plug would fowl out or we mixed the gas to lean and we'd burn the piston up.. thinking about it now we maybe needed to check the jetting on the carb it might have been to rich or to lean... that was my first in counter with LE i passed one coming home on a road he turned around to come after me i twisted that throttle and hauled ass home and pulled around the back of the house and hide the bike..
we used to haul ass from a buddies house to an old practice race track back in the mountains on a state road. the law never messed with us if they ever saw us on the roads. we were hill billys so their were very few cops but they really didnt care either haha. we had to do the same thing though. always carrying extra parts and something was always breaking down on someone's bike. man we had a lot of fun growing up. i remember riding from daylight till dark and being able to hear those motors from the bikes in your ears for days sitting in school they were so loud. i am sure that was part of the start of my hearing loss way back when. no one used hearing protection for anything back then haha
The engine noise!! thats fuckin funny man. I remember the same thing haha. like going to a concert and being deaf the next day. We used to ride along the power lines. Town maintained a path for service trucks. I was giving some advice, ride only as far as you can push it back. Great advice LOL
I had a white Yamaha 125 Enduro when I was 12. Then a Penton 125, had a shitty sachs gearbox. Then a Bultaco 125, which was the badass 125 of the time. Then I got a HOnda 450 a couple years ago, what a dumb purchase. I rod it about 6 times and sold it
your right guns we never rode with anything. never owned a helmet or anything.. if the bike ran and on it we would ride...looking back at the crazy shit we did growing up surprise we're still alive.. between the dirt bike,go cart and running around the woods not caring about snakes or anything..didnt think that far ahead..
awe man I broke several dirt bikes [emoji605] jumping them lol. Y’all are right no helmet, shins getting beat up from the pedals, landing really hard while jumping and knocking your breath out lmao! I had a “Smokey and the Bandit” bike for my first bike! Yes I said Smokey and the Bandit [emoji38]! Still have pictures of me when I first got it [emoji6][emoji16]. Then had Huffy, Schwinn Predator, GT Comp, Dyno. No Haro Master though ☹️. And back then we had “3 wheelers” unsafe as hell! Roll over pick your self up and whatever body part you lost and rode again lol.
smoky and the bandit and huffy lmao. jerry reed still cracks me up to this day. i had a bmx mask and no helmet and my uncle dared me to hit a little jump and jump over the creek. well i got a nice run and go off the side of the hill, hit the jump. i hit the jump and got launched over the handle bars landing on my face with a stump going through the mask and into my chin. not much protection from that thing but it look cool until i destroyed it the first day i had it. my uncle and i spent a couple hours figuring out a story of what to tell my parents and grand parents so we didnt get into trouble.
years ago when my wife and her kids moved in with me they had a 4 wheeler.. it didnt run needed tires. electric start didnt work. i fixed the electric start got it running put some new tires on it and her son at the time was 10 and one day he told me he was bored i looked over at the 4 wheeler and said take that thing for a ride.. he looked at me and said by myself? i said yea why not.. i told him when i was his age and that sat in my garage i would be gone for hrs and days.. i would be stealing gas out my moms car the neighbors car to ride that thing.. there was miles of woods around as you can see in the pet post woods were all around..
i shook my head and walked inside the house...you would have to lock every gas can up when i was his age and had that thing..
Yeah, but the spirit of this comment still stands: I used to cut neighbors' lawns with my dad's push mower when I was 11, 12, 13. Too young to have working papers but old enough to want "stuff". Like parts for my BMX bike that I rode all over creation. Or the 12-speed that I wanted so badly so I could go father faster. Ny parents didn't just buy me that shit... I had to earn my own money and buy it myself.
