Shogun records hardest strike in Sports Science history
Quote:
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua makes the trek to the Sport Science lab to see if he has what it takes to beat Jon Jones in the Octagon. Shogun Rua showed off his leg kicks to ESPN Sport Science's John Brenkus where he tested Shogun's power and speed. The show said Shogun kicks with more power than any strike they've ever had in the lab.
Quote:
- Shogun Rua's punch registers at 1169 lbs of force (25 miles per hour)
- Shogun Rua's kick registers at 2749 lbs of force (39 miles per hour)
- Shogun Rua's kick was the hardest single strike they've ever recorded in the lab
- Shogun Rua says "The goal is KO"
Cain Velasquez's punch is 2230 lbs of force and Rampage Jackson's punch is 1800 lbs of force.
I really like Jon Jones, but the guy is already signing autographs as the Champion. The media is all but giving the title to Jones. Shogun is the under dog going into the fight. And Jones has been doing more talking about fighting Rashad than Shogun. It's good to be confident but to not give more respect to Shogun than that is just ridiculous IMO.
I may be a little biased because I have been watching Shogun for many, many years and he is one of my favorites...but I just think that too many people are writing him off just because of what Jones has been doing.
For this reason, I am pulling for Shogun. I really like Jones and think he has a really good chance of winning, and I think this fight is going to be one of the best fights we have seen in a while, but I am going to pull for Shogun!

I saw jones 30 minute show and I liked it but Dana is throwing jones to the wolves to early and the fame and stardom catches everyone. Jones is fighting someone really good . I mean after the foprest fight he was embarassed so he stepped it up big time

shogun hits hard but jones has reach and has faster feet
also anyone who fights knows that its very easy to strike very hard when its a bag but in a fight not everything is perfect.
you may be striking after slipping a punch and not be in perfect form or have your foot too far outside.
i hope shogun does well

True but Jones hasn't fought anyone like Shogun either.
Being in the ring is different, but it correlates from bag to the ring...so Jones (who probably doesn't have as much power hitting a bag) will also not hit as hard in the ring. That same philosophy has to be across the board.
Don't take my comments the wrong way..I am a big Jones fan, I am just pulling for Shogun because I have been a fan since Way back in the day. I'll be happy with a win from either guy
