any advice or direction would be helpful
hey fitnessgeared its been a while. after 10months of overnight working ive finally found a new job with steady hours so i can get back in the gym. My main goals are to just get in shape and im looking for a basketball appropriate workout. Mainly increase vert, speed, agility. any program u would recommend? ive been doing some basics to get my body used to pushing weights again and steppin up the cardio to get the indurance back.

try some plyometrics and do uphill / incline sprints. the insanity or p90x workouts both have good plyo stuff, or you can research it and build your own

6/9 Sprints. Run 6 seconds as hard as you can jog normal for 9 . Keep doing this until failure. Do light weights just to get good form. And keep a fast pace. No rest between the different sets. I have burned off some fat & weight in the last 5 weeks doing this. I have now jumped way up in my weight lifting but continue to keep it fast paced. It keeps my heart rate up and while getting a good muscle burn I am also burning fat. When I get to my goal I will then focus on weight lifting and slow down between reps & sets. Biggest thing don't let your body get used to the same old routine. Keep it changed up.
