Re: SARA PALINS EXPEREINCE
She’s very pro-life and very conservative on many issues, but she is not a scary hard-core conservative.
She ran an extraordinary campaign, knocking off the incumbent governor and former senator Frank Murkowski in the primary, then walking all over the Democrat former governor Tim Knowles with hobnailed boots in the general. And she did all this in the teeth of a deliberate and vindictive effort by the Alaska GOP establishment to engineer her loss… even though that would mean the Democrat’s victory.
One of the Democrats’ traditional attacks on Republicans — and the Republicans’ worst nightmare recently — is ethics; Palin owns this issue, having ridden it into the governor’s mansion (probably a Quonset hut; this is Alaska). She went against her own, highly corrupt Alaska Republican Party to do so (which is why they worked to defeat her, even in the general election: The old guard was enraged). Since then, she killed Sen. Ted Stevens’ (R-A, 64%) “bridge to nowhere,” rejected earmarks slated for Alaska, and gained an enviable reputation of honesty and independence from monetary interests.
She’s especially good on energy issues, which is either the hottest (sorry) or second hottest campaign issue this year. She supports drilling everywhere; but she’s also a global-warming gal. This doesn’t impress me, of course; but it’s certainly more in tune with the electorate today than am I.
She also happens to have a stunning approval rating in Alaska… upwards of 80% or so.
Sarah Palin would simply remove the Democratic issues of ethics, energy, and especially “change” from the campaign. What will that leave them?
Re: SARA PALINS EXPEREINCE
thanks for posting that info. they can say "She only has 4 years of experience"...well, sounds like this girl is so f ucking talented that nothing was going to stop her. Why cant someone be a ben roethlisberger in politics? Dan Marino was the hottest qb in the league right outta the shoot. Some people are just phukin endowed with it and destined for greatness...funny how mclame stole the thunder the morning after oblamas speech...timing is everything ..now everyone wants to know about her, scre w obama, we want to know about palin...lol
Re: SARA PALINS EXPEREINCE
she has almost zero experience..shes been in office...only as a governor i might add..for only 20 months!!! thats nothing...not to mention shes under investigation...
AND she has had one night in the national spotlight and LIED ALREADY!!!!
not good...
When Palin was a Mayor of a small city of 6000, she spent 16 millions of the states funds on building a Ice Rink that was never completed; when it should of cost 2 million.
She came out of nowhere and became Governor. She approved the biggest budget in the history of the state; 2 billion dollars more costly then the last one.
She supported the bridge to nowhere before it came to the national spotlight and then flip flopped on it to keep her name.
She supported giving 600 million dollars to a State Run Diary Farm and then took it over and ran it to the ground.
Is there anything less to expect from the Governor of the most socialist state in the USA?
Every Alaskan receives 1000 dollars a year for just existing; money made from oil revenues. Straight from the goverment.
Her husband works for BP; and she has forwarded him all her emails while she was governor; going over laws and proposals to do what is best for Big Oil.
Fascism today comes to america not wrapped in a flag; but in a dress.
A empty dress; with 2 years of local experience; no national experience.
A couple weeks ago Palin said on the notion of being VP: "I can't decide whether or not im ready for the job until someone tells me exactly what it is a VP does. I don't really know; at least I hope i can help advance my state and put Alaska ahead of everything else."
When asked about the Iraq war a mere 2 months ago. She said, "I haven't really thought anything about the Iraq War; actually I know nothing; I Haven't really followed it..."
What a lovely conservative. What great experience.
Palin, 44, is younger than Sen. Barack Obama and has bucked her own party on some issues, such as pork-barrel spending. According to Marketwatch, she’s “taken a keen issue in energy and environmental issues.”
“A former Miss Alaska runner-up, Palin holds a degree in journalism and has five children, including one with Down Syndrome.”
Palin’s selection may denote a McCain strategy to siphon off disaffected female voters from Sen. Barack Obama, who some Hillary Clinton supporters see as slighting her base by not putting her name in the running for his VP slot.
Among Palin’s major backers has been New York Times columnist and Fox News contributor Bill Kristol. Writing of Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and Palin, Kristol wrote Aug. 4: “They’re very popular with conservatives, especially social conservatives. And they’re real reformers. They’ve begun to do in Baton Rouge and Juneau what many voters would like to see done in Washington. Principled conservatism and vigorous reform could be a winning combination.”
“McCain himself… is intrigued by the bolder possibilities of youth or bipartisanship,” Kristol added. “And he could be especially intrigued by Sarah Palin and Meg Whitman. I run into plenty of moderate and conservative women who don’t consider themselves feminists but would be pleased to see a qualified woman on the ticket.”
Palin currently being investigated for abuse of office
The Associated Press reports, “More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska’s public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.”
The commissioner, Walt Monegan, was fired on July 11, because Palin “wanted to take the department in a new direction,” according to Bloomberg. “Monegan than alleged that he had been pressured to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, who was married to Palin’s sister and was involved in a contentious divorce, according to the Anchorage Daily News.”
The Bloomberg story continues, “Palin has denied any wrongdoing. The state Legislature voted on July 28 to hire an independent investigator to probe whether Palin, her family or members of her administration had pressured Monegan to fire Wooten, according to the Daily News.”
“Palin hasn’t been implicated in the four-year-old federal corruption investigation, which has resulted in convictions of or guilty pleas from three state legislators, Murkowski’s former chief of staff and two executives of an oil-services company, as well as the indictment of Senator Ted Stevens,” Bloomberg’s report concludes.
Last month a Democratic official told the Wall Street Journal that Palin was facing possible impeachment.
“This is a governor who was almost impervious to error,” Hollis French, a Democratic state senator told the Journal. “Now she could face impeachment, in a worst-case scenario.”

isn't that because she is on the opposite side of the corrupt?
As for Monegan and Wooten. What do their track records implicate? Was change indeed needed? and has it worked out for the better?
Her actions seem to have done very well for the state of Alaska. For state and oil corp corruption...not so good for them.
She's an accomplished woman. Self accomplished. Comparing her to Obama...at least she hasn't just sat and watched while in positions to make change.
Re: SARA PALINS EXPEREINCE
Bottom line....she has MUCH more experience as a number 2 on the Rep. ticket than the Dems. number one guy. Obama has been in the Senate for 141 days! During that time he has done NOTHING!!!
What executive decisions has Obama made? Palin, at this point in her career is more experienced and more prepared to be president than is Obama.
