Just mov€d into a 2 b€droom apartm€nt. I want to us€ th€ 2nd b€droom for my comput€r and som€thing to do cardio on wh€n th€ w€ath€r is crappy out. What do you guys sugg€st? I w€nt looking and saw a bik€ I could g€t, a tr€admill, an €liptical or on€ of thos€ gaz€ll things. Low pric€ is a factor as always.
What do you guys think?
What th€ h€ll is with my €s?
Re: Buying som€thing to do cardio with??
Well, the Gazell is totaly crap. IMO, the bike is the only thing that best represents it's realy life counter part. Treadmills are moving belts, which are not the same as the body actually running against gravity. Elipticals are a little more realistic than teh treadmill to some degree, but to get a good one of those you better be ready to dump atleast $2,500 into it. There is no point in getting something that is crap because it will just eventually break and it will do it much sooner than a good one. If you want a good workout, then by an actually bicycle and one of those roller things so you can ride indoors. This way you can change the speeds on the bike to simulate hills and such and that would be the cheapest way to go.
Remember, you get what you pay for. Unless you can find someone selling a used piece of good quality equipment, I wouldn't waste my time. I would buy a 5 year old Precor Eliptical before I bought a brand new piece of crap one. You get it used, you have it serviced and it will last you a long time, it you get a good quality one.
Re: Buying som€thing to do cardio with??
i got the gazelle when i first started trying to loose weight (before working out). it did pretty good for me at the time. i alt. all out running for a couple mins, then slow down to a jog for a couple.
but, t-man is right...it's crap. for the effort i put in, i could've gotten faster results with something i could adjust the resistance on...i'm about to buy a treadmill now.
Re: Buying som€thing to do cardio with??
Get a treadmill, but make sure it has the incline to a good degree. I have a Proform and has worked well for about 6yr now. Only had to replace the belt. Got it at Sears. Get the one that has like at least 2.5hp motor not the 1.5. Next best thing i would say the eliptical. Precore make good ones.

If you're not attached, I'd say get a GF. allways worked for me.

Think Im going with a recumbent bike with a built in heart rate monitor. Sound good?
