hey guys, im 6' 1" 238 lbs and 27% body fat according to my scale. how accurate are these and does water consumtion before measuring affect the numbers? what do you use for measuring?

is it an electric scale? like a tanita? yes - those are worthless. your level of hydration will greatly affect the measurement. get some calipers and use the JP 7 site method. it's a little more acurate...
there are too many variables for those to be accurate. get a set of calipers they will give you honest results.
i have tried calipers before only the four site method-waist,shoulder, tricep, bicep. i didn't think it was very accurate. most all my fat is in my waist. ecven in high school at 145 lbs wearing 30 in pants i had a gut.
Which is why a 7-9 point test is more accurate.
I don't like the bioelectrical impedence scales at all. I've seen some very inaccurate results with them. I've only used the handheld one, so basically it doesn't really account for any muscle in your legs... it just shoots through one arm and back out the other. I like using the 7 point method with the calipers
