Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
I saw a documentary about the way some people are addicted or get a temporary rush when their posts or pictures get likes. They check their page constantly to see how many and who are liking their posts.
Luckily me personally don't really care who likes my stuff or how many I get. I honestly don't, but for some it's a daily addiction. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
Yes, it gives people a dopamine rush. Its like a shot of cocaine to their brain when they get a like. Then they get addicted to that quickbuzz and they cant think of anything else. They become junkies for likes lol
I hate to admit , but when I post something and it gets like 100 likes and 80 shares, it does feel kinda good LOL
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
I can see that. If I reply to a post and someone agrees with me I feel vindicated. But if they do not, i do not get upset. I just do not care enough for it to matter to me.
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
i do not do social media so i cant really comment on how i feel about getting likes. i will say this though, i believe that this is the reason for lots of our social ills. people are completely losing their in person social interaction and need instant gratification from these platforms. that's just how i see it and in all reality, if you want to know what i got going on swing by and see me, give me a call or shoot me a txt.
also since these young ones do and have all this stuff now and they post damn near every second of their lives up. they forget to take into account that any colleges they may want to get into or any employer they may want to work for can look at their stuff. they can then make the choice of hiring or admitting them based on their stuff. that would be enough for me to say no bueno on that one. also just because you think your stuff is private, doesnt mean they cant get in and look at it.

I read that too and it was interesting as well as it makes sense. I am on FB to have fun, connect with friends, and share good stuff, I find. I have a small amount of friends but that is who I am...small circle. It is what you want it to be.

I love technology. I only wish I could have grown up with it. We grew up using pencils and paper to communicate. Phones had cords attached to the wall. Life could have been so much easier and dating wouldnt have been so hard LOL
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
i could see this.. the wife and i dont have a FB page and never will to much drama.
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
Facebook is the perfect place for people who want to cheat on their spouse. Just a fact. Who needs Ashley Madison when theres facebook?
Re: Getting "likes" on Facebook...etc
It's crazy to see what Facebook has ultimately become. I remember way back when social media was first coming around, it was just a way to connect with people you know and may not have the opportunity to interact with regularly. Now it's like a way of life for some people. It's their only life. They live and breathe based on the number of likes they get and comments made under their posts.
It's pretty ironic. Social media should have been something that enabled people to get closer over long distances. But, it's actually become an avenue for people to distance themselves from real life. A technology that's supposed to bring people together actually consumes them and pushes them further apart. Crazy world.
