Went for first time...you know what was sad. Out of hundreds of say my sons and I were the ONLY Americans. It’s cool other countries have such an admiration for our freedom but seriously sad for our lack of it and we HAVE it!!!

It's like more and more everyday the passion for our country and freedoms has become more of a political battle. Seems like all the back and forth bickering and fighting wears people out until they become numb to the wonderful way of life we have here in our country. Those that don't have what we have are the ones taking notice.
Re: What’s sad about the Statue of Liberty
To see that is on my bucket list! Great that you got to visit there. My hair would be standing and eyes full of tears. I feel people just take this for granted like anything else.
Re: What’s sad about the Statue of Liberty
I have been there. It was inspiring that immigrants came through Ellis Island, They conformed to immigration laws, many changed their names, they learned English to assimilate, They worked hard, and only waved the American flag while maintaining their own cultural identity. These folks had pride in becoming a USA citizen.
Now, so many come here to free load, illegally, and scam the system. I will say I see many that work their asses off.

I guess it's like how some people live near the beach but hardly never go to it. You take shit for granted.
But look what happens when you go to France to see the Eiffel Tower....french people do go there...its all tourists.
America has some great sights for sure. Cool you took the time to check em out!

Re: What’s sad about the Statue of Liberty
I think it's a combination of things. One is what many suggested here, that Americans take their freedom for granted.
Another major part of it I think is that the left and the media has created this sense of "national guilt" and has indoctrinated so many Americans into believing that America is bad:
Bad for not letting illegal immigrants have free run of the country.
Bad because we once had slavery in this country.
Bad because we don't have as much solar power as this or that country.
Bad because we don't have "free" (nothing is free, dumbasses) health care.
And on and on about all the things liberals like to scream about.
Shit, Obama actually went on a world apology tour during his first term! Remember that??? I think this is a major reason why many Americans have lost sight of America's greatness. Hell, why America's greatness has actually been diminished.

Re: What’s sad about the Statue of Liberty
We Americans take shit for granted. Just being born here gives us advantages and a way of life that 99% of the world can only dream about. Theres no excuse
Re: What’s sad about the Statue of Liberty
I absolutely take my freedom for granted every fuckin day. A speeding ticket gets me angry to no end. These places other than America it's so much worse. I like to think that my friends died so I can be an American and enjoy freedom. my .02
