2005 636 - Throttle Sticking
I was going to post this on my bike website, but thought id try here. Ive had my bike sitting on stands for awhile since my rear tire is flat. Its kept in my garage non-air conditioned, and when i turned it on yesterday the throttle was sticking at about 3000rpm. Can i squirt some wd-40 in there or does something need to be replaced?

Ahhhh I'm a motorcycle fan! Also mechanic lol
When you crank it up does t automatically rev up or does it idle fine and you actually feel the throttle itself sticking and not recoiling back?

This is a good vid. This should help if your throttle is actually sticking and not just idling up.
Wd-40 would not help anyway, if your throttle handle/grip was actually causing it to stick it would most likely be due to debris in which case you would just clean it off. If your problem is it idling up then you have other issues but I'm guessing this isn't your issue.
Also check out stuntlife.com haven't been on there since my bike accident but it's a good site.
Re: 2005 636 - Throttle Sticking
When I turn the bike on it idles just fine. Its just when I rev it and take my hand off of the throttle itll rev up and sometimes stick at 3k rpm or itll slowly come back down.
This started after sitting for a month so i just found that weird, never had a problem before. I thought it might be the humidity.
Re: 2005 636 - Throttle Sticking
Ok have you replaced your grips or removed them at all recently? I'm asking because you may have installed the throttle side just a bit to close and is rubbing on the housing.
If not you may have developed a tps issue (throttle position sensor) or throttle body is gunked up in which case clean it.
Or get some of this https://www.ezglidercablelube.com shoot it into your throttle cables to lube them up.
As a side note I would check and make sure you cables don't look damaged on the outside at all, if by chance 1 got to close to something hot it may have started to melt in which case this could cause your problem and you'll need to replace.
Re: 2005 636 - Throttle Sticking
Now that you've said that it sounds like the tps. Get some TB cleaner and give it a good cleaning brother. Or replace the tps
