Squamous and basal cell carcinoma post surgery pics
diagnosed about a month and a half ago. was 99% that was what it was when I went in. The lesions were starting to effect my work and workouts because of the location of 2 of them and how far out they protruded. They would get scraped against and bleed, never fully healing. 2-3 weeks off the gym is suggested and work but only taking the rest of the week off work as I can really afford to be off work with out pay.

So, just how many spots did you have removed in one visit? Must have been squamous cell. Basel is very treatable. You can freeze them off or I use a product called Aldara cream. You apply to the small Basel once you can see it. 3 or 4 times a week up to a month. What is does is draw your own bodies immunities to that site to kill off the Basel. Making it so your own body stops the progress. No one dies from Basel cell. The biggest and scariest skin cancer is Melanoma. That un detected will kill most if it gets to the lymph nodes.
Did you doc send all those off for testing? Hope you have good insurance. Most insurance companies approve I think 3 or 4 removals at a visit. The biopsy can be $150 each just depends on the lab. I have been down the road too many times.
Best of luck and let them babies heal up,. Dont be getting public gym sweat in those wounds,
GC

they told my mother had squamous cell car and it was just a wart or fungus i forgot and they wanted to take her whole heel bone off. so be careful what your dr tells you get a second opinion. but iam sorry brother yours was squamous brother. my prayers are with you.
Re: Squamous and basal cell carcinoma post surgery pics
Squamous is worse than basal cell. Make sure you get your skin checks tearly. Basal cell can also progress. I worked in Oncology for years and we did have some pateints who di come in for radiation treatments just for basal cell. Did the pathology show that they margins were clear also?

That sucks I hope you heal well and things get better.
Re: Squamous and basal cell carcinoma post surgery pics
Squamous according to the surgeons report. 8 spots removed and 2 frozen off the initial visit, those must of have been basal. They have me on some oxycodone and it does the trick. Only take one at a time until right before bed then I take 2 5mg tabs. first time ever taking narcotic pain killers. Makes me feel like I have a nice beer buzz. Had all the biopsies tested and they all came back positive for cancer. Have not seen the bill yet, I had them done at my insurance companies own hospitals, Health Partners so I should be covered. Thanks for the replies.

Like Baby said they will confirm if they have "clean margins" If not they will go back to any spot to remove more I hate to say, I go for full body mapping each year. I did get with a different doc that is very well know for his work and knowledge of melanomas. My other doc was doing to me what you just went through at each appt. I mentally just couldnt take it any longer., Unlike your mine came back negative each time.

The surgeon said they have some one check each layer removed till they get a clean sample then sew it up.
Re: Squamous and basal cell carcinoma post surgery pics
WEll I hope you never need one, but I worked for a top Oncology spcecialist on melanoma, in Illinois should you ever need one.
