This is about message board etiquette and such.
Is it REALLY that hard to just be polite and respectful on a message board? I mean I that because of the anonymous nature of boards such as this that one might get keyboard courage. But really you are relating to someone real and just because you're not looking at him/her in the face doesn't mean "yay I can mouth off" To use a real world example, I doubt any of us would go out of our way to degrade/antagonize a perfect stranger. So why antagonize a stranger online? I know I wasn't raised to be like that. I treat a message board like I'm having a real conversation so I show nothing but respect. Hence why I don't like when people say "It's just the internet" because if it's just the internet, then there'd be no reason for rules of conduct on a message board.
I'll use myself as an example, I tried to talk things out with someone on another board via private messenger. As I didn't appreciate a comment he directed at me. His general response was "Put me on Ignore then" which is just another way of saying "I don't give a *bleep*, I'll say what I want to you". Which is unfortunate that he decided to take that tone. And personally I don't believe in Ignore lists anyway, mainly because the people I would put on Ignore end up getting banned quick enough anyway.
You'd think that board communities would have a strong sense of well community. But it seems like in some cases,*thanksfully the minority* that some people prefer to be asses rather then friendly :(
