Lightning strike at firends house
My buddy has cameras all around his house. Check out this lightning strike that he caught on video yesterday. Turn your sound up so you can hear the hit and watch the tree in the left corner of the video

Those poor trees...lol
But damn that was awesome!
Re: Lightning strike at firends house
Yeah, he came home to the sight of the tree and went inside to watch the video to see if the cameras caught it. He said he knew it was obviously a lightning strike but never imagined it would be that explosive

Here's one I never get tired of watching.
500 thousand volt line disconnect opening with residual current and an empty tank of SF6 gas. that's used to extinguish arcs so they don't do this.

Re: Lightning strike at firends house
That pretty awesome! I was just talking to someone about lightning yesterday and he said that strikes that his the ground always travels through the ground, then comes up. In this case it was the second explosion that the lightning came up from the ground.
Re: Lightning strike at firends house
I've also witnessed a strike entering the ground...and it came up about 50' away. We live 10 min from the gulf and we get severe lightning almost everday. That's some scary shite when it's that close to your house!
