Depends on how much you drink. A beer or two a day can't be too bad . . . more probably will begin to affect your gains - or if your cutting, your loss. Also depends on the orals you might be using. I would not drink at all if using a 17-aa oral.
Alcohol can really break you down. While a couple drinks here and there, even every day, might not affect most people negatively, I think someone who's really training and trying to steadily build performance, wheather it's muscle mass or running, might notice some negative effects of even a couple of drinks. I know that in my partying days, it felt like I would negate 2 weeks of training in one night sometimes. It would take me a week just to get back to where I was before that weekend.
And like Testify said, I don't think anyone should drink heavily while taking 17aa AS. But, to the responsible drinker that enjoys a few beers here and there, I don't think that really does any real physical harm.
One good night of drinkin to me usually means a lot of cals not only from alcohol but also food, then the next day is shot cuz I'm hungover and I'm def not working out or even eating right.
Now a drink here and there isn't bad but everyone is different.
Taken from Squidoo directly:
"1) It negatively affects protein synthesis.
Protein synthesis is the process where amino acids are joined together to form complete proteins. Excessive alcohol consumption slows this process down by up to 20%, and since your muscles are made up of protein, you can see how this is a problem.
2) It lowers testosterone levels and increases estrogen.
Testosterone is the most important muscle-building hormone in your body. One of the limiting factors that determines how much muscle a person can gain is their level of free-flowing testosterone.
3) It causes dehydration.
The kidneys must filter very large amounts of water in order to break down the alcohol, and this can result in severe dehydration within the body. Water plays an absolutely crucial role in the muscle-building process, and being even slightly dehydrated is a recipe for disaster. The muscles alone are comprised of 70% water.
4) It depletes the body of vitamins and minerals.
Alcohol consumption causes vitamins A, C, the B's, calcium, zinc and phosphorus to all be drained at rapid rates. Vitamins and minerals keep every little process in your body functioning properly, and many of these processes involve muscle growth and maintenance.
5) It increases fat storage.
With 7 empty calories per gram, alcohol can actually be quite fattening. Alcohol also disrupts the Kreb's Cycle, which plays an important role in fat burning."
uggggghhh i drank last nite and i feel like a shrivled punk.. **** vagina and its manotinis ways.. i fold under pressure everytme for it .. ugghh
how bad is alcohol? well.i had a party last night and today alcohol is the worst thing on the planet...aside from this headache...
i'll drink a couple here or there...i dont think it's that harmfull in moderation
I had 2 beers last night and felt pretty buzzed. lol I know I'm a light weight. Just never drink.
the dr gives me a clean bill of health, and i drink like a fish from time to time
Personally I think with AAS and and all the supplements involved ( anti-e's, DHT's and what not ) it may not help if you over-imbibe. A casual beer or glass of wine shouldn't be too bad.
alcohol is the devils hell and it has no redeeming value whatsover...but that hasnt stopped me
no booze while on for me, ever... to hard on liver, and unwanted calories.
Im on my 3rd week of no alcohol...I feel way better when I dont drink at all...alcohol su cks!!!!
