Eric Kraz: a new masters PA State record after injury: “whatever it takes to stay in the game”
“ Eric Kratz (Classic Raw 198 M1 40-44 class) pulls 540 lbs for a new M1 PA State Record at the USPA Pennsylvania State Championships. Overall, I was happy with this lift, as it was 65 lbs more than anything I handled in training for this meet. The deadlift has proven to be the toughest of the legs lifts for me to regain. I can not go sumo because of the prosthetic hips, and conventional stance is really tough due to the fusion at L5/S1 and the new disc at L4/L5. I'm working what I would call a modified conventional stance, where my legs are out like a narrow sumo, but with an outside grip on the bar. It's not exactly without some discomfort, lol.... but I'll do whatever it takes to stay in the game... it's in the blood”
