what's up just cerious as to know if anyone's had a buldged disk in there lower back. i was doing dead lifts and went for an extra rep with a weight i could very well handle, but that extra rep caused my form to break down and i rounded my back. instanly i knew i hurt myself so went to a sports doc and he sent me for mri. waiting for results, but he said from what i discribed probaly a buldged disk. wondering if anyone's delt with this and if so how long did it take to heal. i got youth on my side(only 22) but summers around the corner and this threw my summer "supplement" scedule off. i was hopeing to get back into serious traing in like amonth. any thoughts on this will be appericated thanks.

      Man, man, man that sucks.
Even if you do have a bulging disk they won't be able to tell you if that is what is causing the pain, because some people are born with abnormal bulges in the disc and it is completely normal.

don't have surgery.....unless you start to not be able to get out of bed.

don't do cortisone (spelling?) shot - feels good for about 3 to 4 days then hurts worse.

It could be torn tendons. I think that is what mine was just because I know what it felt like. (If you think this might be what yours is and still experiencing pain in a couple months do a search on keyword: prolotherapy)

I tore up my back 3 years ago (october 99), on Leg press. It hurt everyday up until the beginning of this year (Febuary 03). Now just every once in a while. I was 23 at the time.

Not trying to scare - just givin some info......Good luck.

I've had a bulging disk in my back for a year and a half now. They are a pain in the ass because you can start to fix them and move the wrong way and it comes back. I even threw it out again unloading the dishwasher. In my case it took me 3 - 4 month trips to the physical therapist to make it heal (for now). They did deep heat ultrasounds on my lower back-butt every day I was there. I also had muscle relaxers and pain killers. The best suggestion I have is to do exercises for your lower back to strengthen the muscles around it, that usually helps a lot to minimize the pain. Good luck, hope it gets better soon

I disagree. A chiropractor will make you feel better for like 2 days, then you go back to normal or even hurting worse and you have to go back every 2 days. Its a good gig those guys have going on. $$$

Are you nuts!? If it is bulging, or ruptured, this will only make it worse! That all he needs is some one twisting/contorting and poping a bunch of shit. Sorry but those guys are bad news IMO.
The burden of originality is one that most people don't want to accept. They'd rather sit in front of the TV and let that tell them what they are suppose to like, what they're suppose to buy, and what they're suppose to laugh at. You have Beavis and Butthead telling you what music you're allowed to like and not like, and you've got sitcoms that have canned laughter that lets you know when to laugh if you're too stupid to know when the joke is. People are too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves because America has raised them that way.

I had back surgery a couple years ago due to a ruptured L5/S1. I can tell you bro - it is no fun at all!

"Good Chiro"? I didn't know there was such a thing. What he needs is to go see a specialist. Not a witch doctor.

damn chiropractors. Anyone who sets up shop in a mall and rolls around a fake skeleton in a wheel chair is not a doctor I wanna see.

      True.

At that point you would have to get surgery. However, a herniated disc is definately correctable by adjustment and exercise. [/B]
False. That is what a chiroprator will tell you.

Trust me bro - I had to deal with a herniated disk for 6 months due to ignorant doctors talking about shit they knew nothing about. I finally was left with surgery as my only option. 80% of ruptured disks will heal on their own if you take it easy and don't to anything that puts any strain on it. Lots of walking is about the best thing. Don't sit for long periods...etc.

No a good chiro could ruin your disk, I was told NOT to go to a chiro by my doctor.

Forgot to add: pilates can also be a great tool for nursing injuries such as this back to health..
