Well, I had some bloodwork done and I have no clue what is what. I know some of the numbers are bad! For instance, my HDL was low and my Triglycerides were high and I know that's not good. My glucose was high but I expected that because I had just eaten...the bloodwork was done at a spur of the moment kind of thing. It says that my coronary risk ratio is high too! I need to get these fixed before it gets out of hand. Any tips for the ones I listed? What else should I be looking for? My LDL weren't even calculated because my triglycerides were too high.

get blood work after fasting. if your HDL is low there is a good chance your LDL is high.

i used niacin to raise my HDL and have a more favorable LDL/HDL ratio. it is a step towards coranary health as HDL protects your veins and arteries. i used 3 grams ED. 1 in the morn and 2 at night. burns like hell at first but you get used to it or it gets better. this link is from the mayo clinic. Niacin to boost your HDL, 'good,' cholesterol - MayoClinic.com

start with 1 gram of time released niacin (niconic acid) at night before bed then another in the morn as the flushing gets bearable then another at night. just raising HDL by 8-10 points has big benefits later in life

Yeah, like I said, it wasn't planned. I mainly did it because I was interested in my test levels. I plan on getting a legit test done soon and then go from there. It may not be as bad as that test makes it out to be.

Okay, so I went yesterday and had some legit bloodwork done. I fasted for about 12 hours and then went to my doc to have the work done this time. I will know what is what in about a week. I am going to start getting this done at least once a year just to keep it in check. My mom and dad both have had sugar issues and I want to make sure mine stays under control. I have also been feeling really sluggish and just haven't "wanted" to go to the gym for several weeks now. I was wondering if it was an issue with thyroid levels or test levels. We will see.

Okay, well I got my results back and it is good news....I guess. My test was like 253ng. That explains everything that has been going on with me I think. For the past few months, I haven't wanted to go to the gym, I haven't cared about what I ate, and I have just felt run down all the time. I was chalking it up to just being busier at work and just being tired. But thinking back over the past year....I can tell that my sex drive has changed as well. So, I was glad to see that my test was way down and that it wasn't something else.

So my Test was 253 and my TSH was like 1.4xx. Anyone know what the TSH numbers should be?

Anyway, it looks like I will be doing some TRT pretty soon. Has anyone ever done this? I have heard that my doctor is really skiddish about it and makes you come in for him to administer it and only does it once a week. In reading on the internet, it seems like every 3 days is the more appropriate dosage and it says that you should not let your doctor strong arm you into just doing it once per week because it will put you in a roller coaster ride. It also said that you should push to do the injections yourself instead of making the doctor visits every week.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

TSH looks good. It is at the lower end. the higher end would be closer to hypo-thyroid which would mean your thyroid is slower.

I'll let the others chime in on the TRT. You should try to do it yourself though as it would be easier on you.. You could also have your wife do it cause it is not a big deal to do.

Thanks. I don't mind doing it myself. I just don't want my test levels bouncing and that's what it sounded like would be happening with just a once a week injection. I haven't met with the doctor yet. I just picked up a copy of the results yesterday because I was anxious to see if I was right. It only had the Test levels on the results....no T3 or T4 numbers. I also have other issues to work on too with my cholesterol and and glucose levels...but I am fairly certain that's because I have been eating like crap for a while now. Honestly, I just haven't cared about any of that for a while and that's not really like me. I am usually in the gym every day. That's why I knew something was up

I have been feeling the same way and I think it is hormoanl also. Your T3 and T4 levels are part of the thyroid work up. Did they test those to?

Not on this test...or not that I remember seeing. I am at work and didn't bring my results with me. I did a test a few months ago for the heck of it but I didn't fast for that test. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. The T3 and T4 were on that test....would not fasting affect the T3 and T4 numbers? If not, then I can look at those to have some kind of idea of where they are. I can't remember at the moment what they were though

Well, I saw my doctor today and they started my shots for low test. They gave me a 200mg shot of depo test?? He said I would need that every 2 weeks until my levels got back to the 400-500 range and then once a month. They would monitor from then on. I also have to take some fish oils because my triglycerides were high. My HDLs and LDLs were a little off but he said not to worry that diet and exercise would stabilize those. My biggest concern was my glucose. It was 130. So they did another test today and told me that it wasn't bad enough for meds but that a good diet and exercise routine may get this back in shape. I am worried about that a little as my dad is a bad diabetic.

But that's what's up. Hopefully these shots will help me start feeling better and get me back to my old self.

Ya Depo test is just a brand, I'm sure its Test Enth that you are on. With a half life of 10 days an injection every 14 is not what you would refer to as optimal. IMO 200mg/wk would be much better. But atleast 100mg/wk. Your levels will fluctuate a bit on an every 2 week dosage.
