right on! well done! Thank god for the reasonable, conservative mentality for fairness. The last thing we need is to have a homicide rate spike if it had went the other way.

Excellent news! and very good for the mayor of Chicago to do what's right. Chicagans can no longer be sitting ducks for bad-guys with guns. Now watch gun-crime subside in Chicago just like it has in Washington DC since they re-gained their right to own guns last year.

We damn sure don't need a 350% spike in homicides like they've had in England since their gun-ban in 1996.
When thugs think they might be faced with a gun-fight. Studies show that they usually make a wiser choice not to mess with that situation. And when they accidentally read "the little-ole lady" as an easy target to rob. Then get DRTed because she knows how to shoot her shotgun. That's a much better outcome to read about. A cop was talking about how much they love to see the BG DRTed by a little ole lady with a shotgun. He was referring to an instance that happened a couple yrs ago. She took the BG out just as he made it into her bedroom window.
There's no substitute for good home-defense.

Thanks for the news link Fuzo! Great news!

Not so long ago, I saw a documentary on TV where people were carrying a gun everywhere they were going: Subway, the doctor, Starbucks, the supermarket ... something isn't right there if you ask me. In my country, you're not allowed to carry a gun unless you're a cop or in the secret service or something.

well, your hood must be nicer than my hood, lol. if i was going to stay in pontiac working, i would be carring a gun. 2 car salesman were tied and robbed a few months ago down the street from where i worked. they shot one of them...he lived, but that was enough to shake me up. so, where you live, do the bad guys carry guns? commit crimes with guns? not being a smartass, just wondering

It is very difficult for me to debate with you so I'll make this short. We here in America have something called Freedom. The right to bare arms happens to be the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights which guarantees the right to protect ourselves. Your views scare me, and quite frankly I wish people who come from other countries who hold these views would just stay in the country they came from instead of trying to ruin ours. If things are so good in those countries then why bother to come here. I will not venture into a lesson of communism and totalitarian regimes from the past. Of course you do not understand why our gun rights are so important, and you are not alone. However, I do get tired of explaining it. Your views seems to me to be very much un-American and you can take that how you want to. I call it like I see it. If you have differences with our Constitution then you don't support the American way of life. That doesn't mean you are not entitled to your opinion, but I would rather here it from an American citizen, something you are not by the sound of it. But if you are an American citizen then please reconsider how you refer to the country you are from. A proud American pays allegiance to one country only and that is America.

I am a proud American that greatly appreciates the right to protect myself and family. That 2nd Amendment means I don't have to be so concerned with a night-time walk back to the vehicle that could be a couple blocks away. example, to help you understand; My daughter likes the Mardi-Gras parade and festival here annually. It's usually a decent walk back to the car. I'd rather the freedom to bear arms for protection than have a police officer walk me everywhere we go.
There aren't enough cops to protect every American family. And I don't want that size government, nor the cost that comes with such government.

Just like the military provides Americans with the luxury of freedom, thanks must also be given to all the law abiding citizens who exercise their gun rights, thus leading to a higher level of safety in our neighborhoods. I doubt many people have ever thought about it in that respect which is why I am addressing it. Burglars, rapists, and other criminals have to think real hard before attempting to enter a private home as to whether or not that home may be one of many which has armed keepers protecting their property and loved ones. If we did not have the second amendment, criminals could rest assured that homeowners would not be armed, since most Americans are law abiding citizens. Americans should be thankful that we have the right to keep and bear arms, even if some choose not to exercise it; because those of us that do are the reason criminals thinking twice before entering. I suppose if a homeowner has Obama stickers on their car it might be inviting to criminals. Conversely, NRA stickers surely work to deter them.

just think, if mexicans were allowed to own guns, i dont think the violence from the cartels would be going on there..they rely on cops to protect them, which most are corrupt and bought off by the mexican mafias...so instead of being able to protect themselves, they live in fear...take our guns away, and same thing will happen..only crooks and corrupt le will have guns, and every freedom we have will diminish

That is a VERY good point pigmeat. To be honest, I never even thought that fact.

Exactly pigmeat! Mexico has some of the strictest gun laws in the world. And their crime rate is huge. Here's a link about a guy who lives near me. He went to dinner in Mexico and had a box of ammo in his truck.

      ^That would be horrible.

We have entered a state of regulation upon regulation which constantly brings concerns to mind. Heck, look at how they've regulated war!..the soldiers that fight for freedom? How bout that?..crazy...

I'm so thankful for the Bill of Rights. Because you protect your freedom as well. Just as JsJs stated.
