"hump-day"; Visualize the week as a hill that you're about to climb. Monday would be the beginning, or bottom of the hill and you would be on your way up. Wednesday, being in the middle of the week, would represent the hump, or "hump-day". After hump-day/Wednesday, it's the downhill slope towards the weekend. Then repeat weekly.
Does that clear up the confusion for the mid-week saying "hump-day", for Wednesday?
