Ok, many of You know about my dog bruno who I got in November at teh animal shelter....since then, he has been a big time favorite dog around here. However, He has severe separation anxiety. Leaving Him in my house has resulted in 5 broken windows he exscaped through...He cheweed thru a plastic crate and broke a window and got out...I got a steel crate..he wedged his way out of that and was running loose in the house.

Put up a 6 foot fence that was not been enough to keep him in. He chewed up a brand new pair of Spy Motorcycle goggles. Today, I left him in the house..I drove home twice to check on him..the second time, he had pushed a door open and went into a room and chewed up a brand new Fly Racing dirt bike helmet($275)...

I was at this girls house the other night and had to leave him out in my car..he barked non stop, resulting in my having to leave her house..yup, **** blockin dog.....So, my question is: "When is enough enough when it comes to a dog?"...I love that dog. I hate that I love the dog. I hate it. I really want and need to get rid of him...He is tyng me down so bad I cant even go anywhere anymore...

Is it wrong that I want to be rid of him? What to do?

man, if you only knew what I've gone through with Crasher. The name says it all. He's one bull headed bulldog that's full of play. He tore up the inside of a door. Almost chewed his way out on the 4th of July. I guess the fireworks scared him. We used to keep him in the bedroom and close the closet and bathroom doors, put everything chewable up, and leave him in there while gone. Now we let him hang in the house. I put up everything I think he'd get a hold of, but he breaks something, or chews something up still (now-and-then. He's only 10months old, and I got him at 8 months, so I just got started raising him. I got a long way to go, but he's come a long way.

      Do you walk Bruno everyday?

^yes bro. Bruno gets run every single day. He has 5 acres to run on and he runs the whole place everyday. So he gets loads of exercise. I am at teh end with him, I think. With summer, I cant take him anywhere where he has to stay in the car..he is costing money and distracting me from work. Ruining my social life... Today I had to drive home twice and hes in the steel crate right now and Im nervous what Im going to find when I get home. I hope it doesnt sound harsh, because I do love that dog, but I just dont think I can deal with him anymore

You gotta do what ya gotta do. He might just need a different situation. If he's driving you nuts, do yourself a favor, and you might be doing him a favor. He's obviously in need of alot more attention. He might be one of those super hyper dogs that has to be tended to constantly.
Don't feel guilty. Run a free ad. Pick the people you want him to have. Tell them how he is and what he needs. Then get you a less hyper breed or dog. It helps to have one to take his empty place.

^thanks HP. Theres a family that wanted him in July. Im very reluctant to let him go. But if I do, there will NOT be anymore dogs around here for a long time. I cant believe how much a dog can alter Your life..It is NOT worth it in the long run. I really wish I had NEVER gotten this dog...F**K!!!!

I agree - it simply sounds like a partnership that wasn't meant to be.

He just needs a lot more attention and you need a pup/dog with less attention needs.
If you decide not to get another - that's cool too.
I remember when my dog passed a number of years back.
It was a huge stress reliever as she needed a lot of attention at the end.
After that I could adjust my work schedule, social schedule and every other aspect of life as I needed.

Of course - I am a dog person. There will never be too much time in my life that I won't have one. But that's me. I'll take a dog over a human any day of the week - for friendship anyway.... I still have the need for the female of the human variety for obvious reasons! LOL!

^thats what is hard...he gets my attention 24/7...I took him to work with me everyday. We have gone everywhere together.. I took him to the park this morning to run..I take him to the dog park almost 5 times a week. I have only had about 4 days away from him. I have probably been a little responsible for not getting him over the separation anxiety months ago. I just kept taking him everywhere with me...I am a believer in nevr striking a dog for any reason. I dont ever hit bruno. Today when he cheweed up my new helmet, I did NOT strike him. He gets 24/7 contact with people and is loved constantly.
So, I just got home a half hour ago. He had pushed his way out of a steel crate again. I mean he bent the heavy steel wire. I had put 3 padlocks on it this time. then He tore down some curtains.

If you love him then maybe you should talk to a dog trainer or behavior specialist.
I would do that for my Angus without a doubt.
I honestly don't think there is another living creature on this planet that would do for me as much as this big dummy would if he could.
He's a good dog all in all but I could never let him go regardless of what he would do.
He recently cost me nearly 4 grand to fix a problem with his intestines and colon and I know it's not logical but he's my boy.

If everything in this world would fall to sh!t he'd still be there for me.
If I lost everything - he'd still be there.
There is little to nothing I wouldn't do for this guy.

^Youre right dave. thanks. I find myself resenting the dog and I shouldnt. It isnt that Im not a dog lover, I am. But having a small bit of a social life is something i USED to be able to do. He totally ruined that night out with that chick. He has messed up other dates I wnt on because I couldnt just leave him alone somewhere...I know, thats my fault as much as his...I had german sheps in the past that came to me totally trained..this is something Ive never gone through with a dog. I cant leave him in my house. I cant crate him. I cant take him to work everyday anymore. My 6 foot fence is no match for him. I have no life anymore apart from this dog and its much my own fault

Check out the show on Animal Planet "The Dog Whisperer". This guy is able to cure dogs of the absolute worst behaviour problems. It sounds like you qualify to even contact him for help.
It sounds like you've been through a lot with this dog, both good and bad. But there is still hope of correcting his behaviour.

as av said, there's still stuff you can do...(quite honestly, i wouldnt go TOO overboard....thats just me). you can get a "fencelass" fence and keep him outside when your gone. also, get a "dont bark or your ass is getting zapped" collar..(dont think thats the brand name, but pretty sure if you ask for it like that at the pet store they'll know what your saying)...i never had to train my lab. he would get pissed at us for going away (overnights), but all he'd do is tip over the trash can in the bathroom...(he wouldnt even pull the shyt out and make a mess!!! just kinda like a "take that you guys" type thing...we'd laff).

Lmao...f u king hilarious man. I dont know, maybe that radio frequencey fence collar...I would like to keep him, but not like this. its gotten ridiculous. there is a girl I know and trust that lives just across the canal from me and she could easily come and check on him and feed him when I go out of town. Those radio things are $250. Ive heard they are awesome tho.
Like today, I will take him to that school and run and do pullups on the jungle gym...LOL...thing is man, Im going thru so much right now besides Bruno that I dont want any more crap. I do wonder if my life is better with him or without him..THATS the most critical question of all...and right now, I have places to go on a saturday morning and I dont want to have to take him with me. Its going to be 100 degreees so he cant stay in the car. Which makes me reluctant to go anywhere. So Im back at square one.
