      I rented this off of dish network. It was pretty lame. The liberal story line was so strong I was looking Al Gore's name in the credits.

      This alien comes to earth to save earth from humans (because we are mistreating it- never says how). The alien's plan is to collects samples of the life on earth and then destroy humans and any evidence of their existence.

      The story line is pretty contradicting. This alien, who is portrayed as too advanced to be able to explain his existence to mere humans, tells this lady that we treat earth like we treat each other and yet the whole movie is about how the alien is going to murder every human on earth because we don't live like he thinks we should; that is some real enlightenment there. Then there was the little bull$hit contradictions that just get annoying. They shut down these major thoroughfares to transport top scientist, because they are so important, to a debriefing of the situation but then put all of the scientists on the front lines with the marines when the alien lands. Of course they had to do this to establish rapport between the alien and one of the top scientist but still flimsy.

      So um I wouldn't waste your money on this one.

      wow...you went pretty deep into that one, lol...i thaught it was alright. i didnt try to pull all the political bullshyt out of it. i just wanted to see how they redid it from the original...a little different, but still ok

      I didn't know there was an original. Yeah, I'm a little paranoid. Once i see a spark of political agenda, especially when they are presented as unchallenged enlightenment, my defenses go up - even if I agree with the agenda. Seriously, I think a lot of movies are just commercials for agendas. You ever see "The Cider House Rules", it is seriously a commercial for being "pro-choice"; which I am pro-choice but I don't see how you could think any differently about the movie.

      You got that right , Klash. Even (especially) cartoons anymore have a political or PC agenda.

      The original movie was 1951 and I have heard its really a classic. That I would like to see.

      This actually makes me think of some of the original movies.
      Like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
      Then we had the remake with Kidman in The Invasion.
      I saw the original from 1956 quite a number of years ago and honestly don't remember it.
      Then I saw the 1978 version with Sutherland and after watching "The Invasion" and seein the 1978 version I almost had nightmares. The 78 version plain freaked me out at the end!

      Sorry to go off on a tangent but some of these remakes are good - if just looking for a film to watch be to compare some of these to the masterpieces from which they were spawned is a damn shame.

      It was an ok movie. It seemed more symbolic to the Bible than to politics in my POV.
