      Default gun show

...is in town this weekend. I just got back a little bit ago. I picked up a new toy. Never owned a 9mm. I do now though. That was sorta what I've been itching for. A good .380, 9mm, .40... I mainly wanted compact, light-weight, bang for the buck. I wasn't sure at first, just after I bought it, but When I went over to buy amo, I got reassurement. Then again by the holster guy's partner, which has the .40 model.

I settled on a Hi-Point 9mm. The first guy at the table that walked by and saw me checking them out is who really sold me on it. He loves his, and said anyone that has something bad to say about Hi-Point firearms doesn't own one. Then the dude at the amo table asked me what I "carry". I said, "aah, I just got this Hi-Point" in a blah kinda way. He jumped in before I could finish and told about his exact same one that he's had for 10yrs. His wife agreed that it was her favorite gun they have. He named some of the big, higher dollar guns that he has, and he said he could be no happier than with his Hi-Point. So, I felt more confident in my purchase then, and even more when the retired armed forces holster guy dropped his 2 pennies about them.

Hi-Point not any worse than any other. I would rank them with Kel-Tec and Bersa. Its no Kimber/Springfield/H&K or something like that, but not a bad gun for the money- and yes I have owned one

If you figure how much you actually shoot your pistol- its normally not that much- hence you got a very decent gun for the money. Your higher end guns take punishment better(IMHO)- have better warantees- and parts are more available if there is a problem

It has a lifetime warrantee. If anything goes wrong, or I have any issues with it, the dealer said Hi-Point does repair or replace without question, so that was another plus for the money. I just read about the lifetime warrantee as well. Hopefully I won't have to see about their warrantee backing though. But like you said, handguns aren't shot like shotguns. But on the bang for the buck tip. I love my Mossberg 12g Ducks Unlimited. Never had a problem in almost 20years that I've owned it. It's barked at countless covey of quail. I have jammed my pop's $700+ 12guage Browning automatic. You can definitely tell the diference in a $800 shotgun and a $300 shotgun though. You can just see and feel the difference. I always hit better with my Mossberg, but it's what I was used to in my hunting days. But my father's Browning Automatic is a Cadillac of shotguns. And it's been around for many more decades than my Mossberg or Savage 20g, which neither compare in price or quality, but neither have ever given me the first problem. And god only knows how many boxes of shells have went thru them.

After looking the show over today, and comparing. I came to feel that that little Hi-Point would be like a Mossberg of pistols. Which is damn fine for the money. You can tell it ain't a $500 gun, but it does feel like a decent gun for the money.

like I said- you got a very decent gun for the money and I'm sure it will serve you well. Between my father and I- we have some roughly 20-30 Browniing A-5's that we duck hunt with in Louisiana every year- they have held up better than any other auto shotgun we have tried and they are getting hard to come by. On the same token I bought my son a Yildiz O/U 20ga shotgun imported from turkey ($440.00) and it is one of the best little shooters I have had the pleasure of shooting- definately not a Browning or Beretta, but a great little shooter

Nice firearm for the money. The only thing about a .40 is the ammo is twice the price of 9mm.
3V "you americans are weird"? If you have a library card, we can get you one too!
Last summer I went to a tampa bucs game and I was putting away my carry gun in the trunk and an opposing team fan said "look, down here anyone can get guns"! I shut ther trunk, turned around and said "hey lady you need a library card". She went on tilt!

What I like about Texas- is I can pull my shotgun out of my truck in a busy parking lot and nobody looks at me funny- its just part of who we are down here.

we rotate them out. I normally bring home 10 or so to clean mid season then return and bring the rest home. You have to understand- my dad hunts everyday of the season including teal season. I only make it over there twice during season because I head up to the hill country to deer hunt inbetween- not to leave out dove season also

man, that's something I used to love. weekends at the farm hunting. When I was growing up we had 1200+ acres of great hunting with a pond full of **** and shellcracker, a fresh, crystal clear, spring fed limestone bottom creek running thru it. Now it's just short of a hundred acres. Just what is my father's is all that's left. The other family members sold their part. The land was pioneered by a family member almost 150yrs ago.

That Texas game is great isn't it ds? Talking about ducks. When I mapped out Delta Electric Co-op that feeds the Mississippi Delta (home base of the Ducks Unlimited foundation/studies/whatever)...man, I've never seen game like that in the MS Delta. That's all that's there. Fields and fields of farmland, and catfish ponds. I never knew there were so many different speces of ducks.

Yep Bro- I hunt South Louisiana which is called "The Duck Capitol of America" near Lake Arthur(sp) we have 250 acres of flood marsh we hunt that cost us $9000.00 a yr to keep leased and I hunt on my Uncles 1500 acre ranch North of Austin Texas (Georgetown) for deer. The fun thing is I get loaded up with Dove on my 5 acres at the house, so sometimes I'll grab a cold beer and go out behind the barn and drop 10-20 dove on a nice evening- Gotta say the Lord has truely Blessed me in thiese areas

Well I work more than I play, but being able to take my family and enjoy the great outdoors is priceless- my son hunts with me and my wife has decided to try it, so I will be building her a rifle shortly. Can't wait till my little girl is ready- she got to shoot my 22lr back at the pond theother day for the first time at age 5- she was stoked
