Obama has already stated this will be one of the first things he does if the lame duck session can't get it done and your right then every industry in America will be trying to demonstrate a dire situation to justify a bailout.

I agree with Klash. I was also thinking that what if the gov. does what it did with AIG? They bail out the auto industry and wind up owning at least a portion of the company, next thing you know the damn gov't has ownership in everything.

      Bail Them Out IMMEDIATELY

      Bear Sterns---30 billion
      AIG----------150 Billion and counting
      JP Morgan....10 Billion
      Goldman Sachs 10 Billion
u get picture total for banks 150 Billion, plus, 140 billion in tax breaks no one talks about

We need them for national security, remember WW-II in one year auto's retooled into a war machine, and thus, we defeated germans and japanese

There is a major war on average every 10 years.

It is insane to let them go.

We have these most open markets in the world, and the least government support for manufacturing.

For 20 years the big 3 were not allowed into any other markets, while ares were wide open, while all the others perfected there products.

it is a royally f'd up situation, put up the money and have a 3,5,7,10 year pans, and re-evaluate at each date as too what too do

Personally I think we're ****ed if we do or don't bail them out. Either way we, our citizens, and economy are screwed. All around a $hitty situation and no one really "wins".

finally someone thinking right!! 3.3 million jobs rely on the big3!!! are you guys all as ignorant to the problems this will cause our nation as the out of touch politicians that are over seeing this joke??!
first..the credit crisis! people are going to the showrooms and getting TURNED DOWN!!! isnt that why we proped up the banks??!! so they would be able to continue to LEND money??!! i dont see the outrage to this!! i dont see anyone complaining that OUR TAX MONEY went to prop up these fukers, so the credit lines would stay open and they are not!! wonder if that's infecting the stock market too, eh? hard to buy into a company's stock that cant sell it's ware's becouse NO ONE CAN GET FUKIN CREDIT!!!!!
second...studt after study after study shows detroit produces a reliable vehicle. yes, they took their sweetass time to get there, but they've been there for years now!!! also, they produce higher mpg vehicles over the entire model line than any other manufacture.
third....IT'S A FUKIN LOAN!!!! do you think you'll be seeing the money the goverment is paying out for these bad motgages??!! wake up! that money is pissed away, but the auto industry has barrowed before and repayed WITH INTREST!!!
forth...you aint getting the uaw out of the auto industry!! this state, the citizens wont allow it. it's a union state and has been up for vote mnay times...each time going down! i agree that they've been GROSSLY over paid, but they (auto manufactures) have renegotiated there contracts just a year ago!! with the buy outs, the lay off's and, as time goes, the concestions that they (uaw) made comming to date, the average compensation per hr (total compensation including retiree's and bennifits) has come down from 71$ and hour to about 23!! thats lower than the almighty fukin toyota!!! so...you can see where "buying time" would be VERY bennifitial to the industry and the country!
knowing the facts...i cant believe anyone would be apposed to this. the STUPIDEST thing they (the big3) did in the last 2 days is not show those blow hards what changes THEY'VE ALREADY MADE that will put them back in the black. ford would be back in the black by 2010 if it wernt for this credit crisis!!! but...no sence in leaning on the lenders we bailed out to do what they were supposed to do with the money, US TAX PAYERS, gave them! i'd much rather put my money on detroit than in the pockets of the bankers...but...detroit automakers dont put as much money in the politicians pockets as the financial company's do, so fuk 'em eh? this industry MADE THIS COUNTRY!! this industry PROTECTED THIS COUNTRY!!! and this industry has already made many of the changes they needed to make to be more competitive. i promise everyone here...if the big 3 go down, you will feel it. each one of you. maybe i'm an idiot, but i promise each and everyone of you would feel it! i dont really think many of you see the big picture here.
i guess you'd be happier that the tax money your so concerned about would be better to go to 3.3million people for unemployment compensation? ofcourse...we'll have to extend the time frame for unemployment comp. becouse it's gonna be hard for 3.3 million people entering the market to find jobs! probobly should raise the ammount to. also, lets make sure retraining for these folks is available to them...we gotta pay for them to have the opeutunity to go to school so they are able to compete for the jobs out there.

...seems like a LOAN would be a much better option for our nation...but, what do i know...i'm a dumarse.

bail outs have fuked up people and companies for years. It's taught the practices that have got 'em where they are today. America has raised this situation...Corn and grain fed it right to where it is. Throw more money on the fire. Ice cold water will wake people up though...oh yeah, and put out the fire too. Might make a mess, but life lessons are learned.

I'm in a horribly fuked situation because of a dumb ass, fuked up manager and owner. Let's have fun with dialog:

manager (that has no fukin idea what he's doing)-"here here boss. Let's lay off the money makers and employees that have proven to create true, long term relationships with the consumer. That's how we'll save money"
      owner- "okay, whatever you say"
bam! there goes half the fukin service dept, the GM of 15yrs (some fukin how), half the sales & parts staff. And the muther fuker that's running the dealership into the ground, clearly, is the fukin service manager! service manager: dumb ass that don't know what he's doing. owner: owner that listens to stupid people and deserves to loose everything for being a dumbshyt.

The craziest thing is everybody in the car biz in town has heard of, and has a clear and accurate opinion of this service manager. How the hell the owner of his own dealership can't see it and understand it is beyond me.

On the sbject again. Americans, as a whole, need a wake up call! "freedom this, freedom that"..."no no, let him have the opportunity. He's not a privilaged person"...then there's the, "damn America, I wouldn't buy American for anything."...oh, I didn't leave out, "let the poor minority have that chair. They deserve it."
What has put us here? And is it getting worse? Should we bail-out?! or should we learn what it takes to maintain the strongest, richest, and most powerful country in the world? I say survival of the fittest. In the end, Ford will be making automobiles. General Motors will be making automobiles. It might be scaled way down, but they will survive. There are millions of people in this country that will not buy anything other than Ford or Chevy.

Take a look at utlities. Commodities that everyone uses. Have you ever heard a peep out of a power company?..your local municipalities?..water depts?..no. because there isn't any outsourceing. It's all American. Americans build those power poles. American trucks and equipment is used by those Americans to build and service the power service. We can do that with every commodity we use. uck them other fukers. But noooo.

utilities are publicy regulated by the individual state, they are reviewed regularly for rate increases etc., such that they are regulated so that they make a profit and stay in business, the reason why they are regulated by the states or municipalities is cause they essentially have a monopoly

my point is it is a just different

I remember us both agreeing Paulson should not have so much power with the bailout money and that even if the $700 billion bailout passed there was a good chance it wouldn't work.

MPG should be a demand issue, not a government requirement. This is just another way for the liberals to shove their freakin "green" $hit down our societies throat but if a company has a superior product and are still failing they obviously have some expense issues.

....repaid? I don't remember getting a check! Oh wait, that's probably because Chris Dodd or Barney Frank used it to fly across country to pick up their gay hookers from the Chinese sex ring.
