TweetMy 5 year old son asked me who I was voting for this morning, after the television had just displayed a picture of Obama and McCain. I told him I would be voting for Bob Barr and then I asked him who he liked and he said: Obama. Obviously I asked him why he liked Obama and at first he wasn't sure and said things like because I want to be president but after 10 minutes it turned out a friend of his at school thinks he likes him. After telling him the importance of knowing why you believe something I reminded him of the quarters he earned by kicking the soccer ball during a game last week and told him Obama believes he should be able to take some of those quarters and give them to other kids.
He said, "but I want to keep my quarters".
So I asked him, "well, you don't have the same beliefs as Obama do you?"
In which he replied, "I don't want him to take my money; I think I'll vote for McCain, will he take my money?"
I said, "yes, but not as much"
Then Junior asked me again who I was voting for and I told him the one who believes in freedom and doesn't take your money just to give to someone else.
In which he responded "That's who I'll vote for too, what's his name again?"
I failed to mention he wasn't old enough to vote yet!!!
