Tweetsorry for ur loss i know what its like to lose a pet...u get to love it and it kinda becomes part of ur family and ur routine =(
TweetMy little black cat died this afternoon. He had been sick for awhile. Not sure exactly how old he was. We adopted him from my old boss when he had to relocate to chicago for work and he was a few years old then and we had him for a little over 10 years. He got real skinny at the end and had trouble breathing and eating. He came home last night all wet and his leg was turned at a weird angle. not sure if something got him and messed him up like a coyote but he was in rough shape. to take him to the big animal hospital in springfield on a holiday after hours to put him down would have been over $400 that i didn't have and i don't know how my son would have taken it (or the neighbors) if i put him down with my rifle so we just set him up in a nice soft comfy box with blankets and i crushed up some xanax in some tuna and he rested overnite and this morning he was meowing in some pain so i crushed up some more xanax and some vicodin and gave him those and he passed in his sleep. i could see where something messed with him as his tail was almost severed and his insides were pretty bad, he was leaking fluids and you could hear noises from his insides. my son told me i did the right thing to keep Mulder comfortable and not let him suffer. Good to hear cause i'd hate for my son to think i was an ogre for drugging the cat.

TweetBigDawg.. I am so sorry. That brought tears to my eyes. I lost the best cat ever, they couldn't do anything for her, so they gave her a high dose pain killer and took her home to die with me... I still remember her last cry before dying. Here is a poem that a friend sent me. This last winter I had a bad situation where.. well I almost met my maker. This poem soothed me knowing that I would see Sophia....
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

TweetI'm sorry to hear your family had to loose one.
I never thought I'd think so much of a cat, but I had a beautiful one walk up to me while I was grilling out front last summer, and she's been our's ever since.
I hope good memories out weigh the loss soon.

TweetWOW SAD STORY BRO!! I HAVE THREE CATS AND LOVE THEM ALL VERY MUCH. I CANT AMAGINE PUTTING THEM DOWN BUT I KNOW I WILL HAVE TO SOMEDAY!!!
Tweetyep, that's the deal with dogs and cats. You know from the beginning that you'll out live them, so you have to go ahead and accept that from the start. Well worth that unconditional companionship until the end.
Tweetman bigdawg that sucks.
TweetBD... that is so sad. I know that had to be a hard thing to do, but what you did was best. You couldn't let it suffer, so I think you did the right thing too. I don't know if you remember of not, but today is 6 months since I had to put my baby down. I still miss him.
My condolences...
Tweetmy heart goes out to you BD. Pets leave their footprints on our hearts forever. I had to have my last dog, Brando, put down on march 11. I still cry over losing him.
best wishes for you and your family
