TweetI try and portray myself on the boards the same way I am in "real life".
Im not sure how people think of me, I know I have made friends so I dont think they think bad of me, but who knows
TweetTonight I visited some boards I havent been to for a while...saw some old names I havent seen in forever. Some ppl have been around many many moons it seems and over time when you hear/see people's names in posts/threads and learn things about them, you get a certain mental image of them.
Questions....
Do you portray yourself the same way on the boards as in real life?
and
How do you think ppl from the boards perceive you? or do you even care?

TweetI couldn't imagine why someone would try to be something they aren't, but I know that people do that. There is a huge part of who I am that I just will not let on to on the net. I have aquaintences in real life that don't really know that side of me. That's a side that only my family and close friends know. I have made friends on a couple of boards that I think really know me. I have a couple of friends on here that I know know the real me. We've talked about how you meet people on these boards that are closer than your friends that you've known for ages. I could be wrong though and everybody on here might have my personality pegged, lol. Even though we don't have voices on the boards, I think that we really get to know one another very well. We definitely have engaged in conversations that I haven't had with my closest of friends, and vica-versa.
TweetI'm the same on the boards...And in real life...So I can be an ass I could care less what people perceive of me on the boards...I've been on the boards since late '98 and people think I'm pompous, arrogant, etc...I live my life the way I want, I work hard, I play hard and spend hard too...Only one person really knows me and understands my persona, that's bouncer...Him and I see eye to eye...Everyone else, lol...
TweetWell I'm pretty much the same on all my boards ,open minded and inquisitive.I try to lighten things up sometimes by being a goofball. But I remember there was a board thats not around any more ,with a lady posting as a guy. And was trying to give guys advice untill she was banned.
Tweetditto
one thing is, in real life i'm more of a smart ass at times, and a little more patient when explaining views, over the years on the boards i don't parse much as i did in the beginning
Tweetdude!!! you need to release your inner smartass!! let it flow!! lol...the only thing about the net is the lack of voice. it's hard to relay what i'm trying to say sometimes without voice fluxuations...and it can really fuk up a punch line too! lol...oh, and in real life...i swear alot more. no shyt. i know people try to front on the net, but i can honestly say, i've talk on the phone with alot of guys here (alot of fuked up accents man!!) and i have never got the feeling i was talking to someone else. seems like most the guys around here are how they appear to be

hey, I resemble that remark. Wheather an accent is fukked up or not really depends on where you are physically at that moment.
Tweetall your replies are pretty much true....or as I perceive you guys.
Some of us do have an advantage because we have spoken to each other on the phone or on a regular basis, etc.
TweetI act the same. No one really knows the real me....except Jazzjackrabbit and Mrthhmn.
TweetI try to act the same but it's hard to say what some people perceive of me online as I've never really asked.
I know in person I like to joke a lot, occasionally try to push some buttons , and just all around have a good time. But as all people I have my moments, but for the most part I try to stay in good spirit and joke around, but it does get me in trouble.
TweetThanks for sharing guys...I believe I repped everyone.

I definitely express myself on the boards in the same way as I do in "real life". I probably come across as antagonistic, in life in general, but I'm not intentionally antagonistic. I just have nonconforming views on things.
And I always hope everyone (boards and real life) respects me but I'm always myself so that doesn't always happen.
TweetI am the same on the boards as in my real life. I am pretty much open, but keep a certain part reserved for only my family and close friends.
As to how people on the boards oercive me. I have no choice in that matter. That is a decission left totaly to them.
