TweetA lot of times it's a simple as cleaning out the cache. When online, go to 'Tools', then down to 'Internet Options' then go to the 'Browsing History' and select 'Delete'. In the next window it will ask you what you want to delete. Under 'Temporary Internet Files' select the delete button. This file will fill up with thousands and thousands of copies of the sites you visit. I have had my pc run so slow that it was aweful, then I deleted these files, rebooted (not mandatory but I did it anyways) and problem solved.
You can also hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete (just once though, if you hit it twice it will shut down your pc). This will open the Windows Task Manager. Go to the 'Processes' tab. Anything tunning with the User Name 'System' is usually something you do not want to end the process of. So, start going down the list of running programs and type the program into a Google search and see what it does.
I used to find spyware and other viruses this way. That is, until I switched to System Suite. I used to run Norton and Norton would tell me I had no viruses or anything. The first day I put System Suite in, it found dozens of things that Norton missed. The reason for this is these program writers of the viruses know how to put certain things in the code to make Norton over look it. But, with System Suite being a less competative company, they don't bother writing things in to block it's ability.
Other great features are 'Net Defense'. Most of the behind the scenes spyware and viruses we get are from visiting sites or looking at videos online and stuff like that. Well, Net Defense ALWAYS pops up if a program on your pc tries to access the internet. Now, that can seem like a pain but you can set it to automatically allow certain programs to access the net without warning you. Here is why this tool is so valuable. Many viruses we get, can't be completely deleted because they store instruction in the registry to go online and download the virsu application in the background. For example, you find a virus, you delete the file, then the next time you get on your pc, the virus is back. This is becaue the code in the registry told the pc to go online and get the application again. Well, with Net Defense, your pc will tell you when this behind the scenes programs is trying to work and you can check the 'Always say No to this' box. That way, the code in the registry will never be able to mess with you again.
If you get really good, you can search out the spyware and viruses and find all their registry files as well. Using System Suite, you can search the registry and completely delete these files. Now, I've done this enough that I'm comfortable with it, but some people are not. If you delete the wrong thing, then you could really screw up your pc. So, use system Suite to back up your whole registry before deleting anything. Then, if you are successful, re-backup your registry.
Other features include Recovery Commander. It's like Windows checkpoint but way superior. I downloaded a bad Active X control in an email once and it really screwed my system up. So, I went into Recovery Comander and told it to go back to prior the installation and it automatically removed everything accociated with the install. This tool has saved me more than once over the years.
Anyways, I would look into the System Suite if I was you. Even my tech guy says that is all he will use for the same reasons I use it. He was surprised I used it because most people just go with Norton or McAfee because of name recognition.
