Any of you guys have problems there? For the last two weeks, when I bench it's painful as all hell! My left pec is worse but the right one is catchin up quickly. Yesterday during my warm ups it was there but tollerable but once I got up in weight it was just flat out unbearable like it was rippin apart! I went and got some deep tissue work done last week, and have been puttin ice on it, although not everyday like I should, but it just isn't gettin any better.

You need to rest from that flat bench brother.......Try 3 or 4 board presses for a few weeks and still ice and take eleve or ibuprophen. J. Wendler told me to just do inclined pushups when my pecs are banged up(your upper body is inclined not your feet).

YES! I made a post about this awhile back and asked about it. My front delts/upper pec would get REAL sore and tight at the beginning of the workout and couldnt finish. I took a week off from chest and iced the area and it is fine now. I also started stretching more as well and that seems to help.

^^ I like that but if it was ME, I would take two weeks off if it feels like it's tearing. The thing about ice is tricky though. See, ice reduces inflamation, right? But, it also reduces the necessary blood needed to carry nutrients to the area for healing. So, the best method is to stretch the muscle out really well and then ice. The stretching gets fresh blood into the area with nutrients and the ice will keep down the inflamation. It's a back to back process. Stretch for a couple minutes, get some blood in there and get it loose (without pain), then ice for at least 20 minutes. DO NOT STRETCH INTO THE PAIN!!!! Here's the way it was expalined to me....if pain was a house, then you would be ok to walk up to the front porch and maybe on to the porch, but never go all the way up to the door and under no circumstance do you go through the door, ever. When you have an injury, you never want to stretch it to the point of pain. Just easy, slow stretches 'almost' to the point of pain, but not past. Then, ice. Each time it will get better and like I said, I would do this every single day for 2 weeks to be safe. Big C is younger than us bro so he can get away with 1 week, not me and you bro. At our age, we need 2 weeks.

Actually to clarify to what I said before I guess I did take 2 weeks off since the pain was right when chest day started. So that was one week off then since I had hit it previous and noticed it hurting the week before and I took another week off. So 2 total from movements. My degree is in ex science so I was familiar with the trauma but was curious if anyone else had the same tightness problem in that area. Its a tricky area to pin point what EXACTLY is cause of the pain. Tman described what I did. Rest, stretch, ice....Did this every day 4-5 times a day for that 2 weeks and worked itself out. Also if possible try to sleep so you arent putting any pressure on that area. I sleep on my st nd side so it was hard but I did it and it helps in the healing. You would be surprised at the amount of trauma and hault of heeling happens when sleeping in incorrect positions. Good luck bro and just rest up and eat

Cool, I'll prolly take a week off and then if it's feelin ok, do some higher board work. If there's still any probs at all, I'll take two weeks off cause like T said, we ain't spring chickens anymore, lol! I'm also gonna keep with the ice and ibuprofin alternating with aleve and see how it goes. Thanks fellas.

Yes, sorta... several weeks ago I injured my delt-tri tie-in doing incline bench, and I still can't do the incline bench or shoulder presses without pain.
