TweetNEWS IS RATINGS DRIVEN LIKE ALL OTHER MEDIA IMO.
TweetI'm not a big conspiracy theory guy but any of you guys ever thought about how our news is portrayed. We focus on so many dumb things and never the real world and life issues.
I was listening to Tom Likus (radio) the other day and he was going off at how duped we are by our focus being on stupid things like american idol, politicing, clothes adds, etc. instead of focusing on real issues like poverty, death, distruction, etc.
He mentioned the Virginia shooting about how it was a shame and all but these 32 deaths are making such big headlines while everyday our military men and women die on foreign soil.
Just a thought...
TweetNEWS IS RATINGS DRIVEN LIKE ALL OTHER MEDIA IMO.
Tweetya and thats what Tom Likus was saying...that it was female driven and thats our problem...but I won't open that can of worms...

Tweetthe media wants you to be scared of everything. a little more honesty would make for a lot more credibility.

TweetHmmm....I don't know this radio guy you mention. I've never listend to his show, but if that is a direct quote from him, he is not looking at the big picture as to why the VA Tech massacre is making headlines. Does he understand military life versus being a student? Military is about serving and protecting your country and death is part of the duties. Going to school and being shot by some random pyscho is not part of the job description of being a student. Hearing about soldiers dying is old and quite normal. 32 Students getting shot 1 month before graduation is not normal.
TweetI wouldn't trivialize the Va shootings and compare them to all the sh!t that pollutes the news, but aside from that he's pretty dead on. Look at all the Anna Nicole coverage, the Brangelina coverage, what celeb is adopting a foreign kid this week, who split up with whom and why Sanjiya is still on Idol. The "news" is entertainment peppered with bits of reality and actual news.
Tweetguys, when there will be idiots to watch and buy that crap, it will be on!
clean the crapidiots who want that **** and you'll might have insightfull stuffs on
three doodoo is back! Hide your women!
TweetI don't think he was trivalizing the student death issue vs military it was just an example of how our attention is always taken away from the bigger picture.

For example, somthing like 50,000 Americans die each year from smoking related diseases. Yet several major tobacco makers still put fiberglass in the filter to cut your lungs so the drugs penetrate your body quicker...
ABC owned by Disney.
CBS owned by Westinghouse.
NBC owned by GE.
You do the math, it`s not just FOX that`s got an agenda.
Tweetwell what happend at VT is new news and out of the norm..... soldiers dying is routine and old news these days....
Tweetnews is meant to desensitize the masses so nothing is suprising, and also steer the population away from what is important,, every tv station and news outlet besides public access on tv is owned by 5 corps.. It's not a conspiracy at all, media is the 5th branch of govt..Rome fell because people became interested in entertainment (colliseum) and turned their head from what was important.
Also real journalism is extinct, if any of you have the chance dowload off google "outfoxed" it explains how news is guided towards certain agendas.
