TweetNot price wise I mean theyre huge and suck gas like crazy.
Tweetwell, seeing that they are not making the excursion anymore, you must be thinking used...to find a nice used one, you have to pay an arm and a leg for it. it's kinda became a specialty truck...people who want them will pay stupid money for a nice one. i would go with the expedition personaly...very nice truck. still popular enough that there is plenty out there, and it gets alot better milage than the excursion. but, if you want to lease a new expedition, and you can deal with the milage issue, then i would lease a new one. if you have a prob. getting "A" plan papers, i can help ya out...try to get on a "december" trade cycle....thats when the biggest incentives come out!

TweetI'm selling my expedition for an F-250. Stock it is getting the same gas mileage as an F-250 diesel. I can put a chip on the F-250 and get 17 to 18mpg
TweetWhat about getting a Navigater? Basically the same thing as the Expedition except it has all the bells and whistles! If your willing to step up to the Excursion you mine as well gat the Navi. Those Navigators are sweet trucks!
I've thought about getting an Aviator a few times. I still consider it every once in awhile. It's just the whole part that it's a Ford that stops me.
Tweetpass on the aviator dude...there's a reason they were discountinued. for the money, you could get the same year expedition e.b.!! go with the nav. nice truck

TweetUnder the magnusson act it is illegal for any dealership or car company to void a warranty simply from the addition of any aftermarket parts. Ford tried to play that game with me, and changed their story real quick when I walked back into the dealership with the law in black & white!
As for getting the Expedition over the aviator I don't really agree. The expedition is way bigger, way heavier, burns more gas, and has worse handling. I honestly think the expedition is ridiculous to buy! I'd rather buy a fully decked out explorer aka Aviator that will handle better, accelerate better, look better, and be better on gas. Just my opinion though! Bigger doesn't always mean better.
TweetNew Vehicle Warranties And Your Rights
No aftermarket part or accessory that is properly installed on your vehicle will entirely void your original vehicle manufacturers warranty. According to the provisions in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, It is the dealership's responsibility to prove that your modification directly caused or affected the failure you are trying to resolve. With that said, some dealerships are more performance-oriented than others and are more willing to work with customers.
Warranty-related materials, published by the new vehicle manufacturers, state that the installation of aftermarket parts have no effect on the warranty unless such equipment causes the problem that leads to the warranty claim. Nonetheless, some dealers have improperly denied warranty claims even though the claim had nothing to do with aftermarket parts. I.E., just because you install an exhaust system, your suspension failure warranty claim cannot be denied. If you experience a problem with an uncooperative dealership, point out the provisions of the this "FEDERAL ACT". For more information call your vehicle manufacturer or click on the link above to go directly to the Federal Trade Commission's website to find out more about this law. ......
i imagine your referring to this!! well bro...the problem with the diesel tuner is that it pick's up the mileage and tork from adjusting (through the computer) the trans shifting timing (in part)...it's the trans that goes, not something completly unrelated....bro, i've had better attorny's than you call me on this, and after explaining it to them, they dont call back. but, whatever...you want to jack with the way your tranny is supposed to work, and assume that it's somebody else's problem when sh!t breaks...thats up to you. i'm just letting you know what my experience is. it is a related problem...the problem of the tranny going IS a direct result of the tuner...but hey, dont take my word for it...slap that sh!t on your 26k truck and roll the dice!! hope ya dont crap out!

Tweetthere ya go, good post Dave
TweetI see your point and I did know that they dealer has to prove the part failed as a direct result of the aftermarket part. Problem for the dealer is it's not exactly easy to prove it was the addition of the part.
I do get your point on changing shift points and such. But if you ask any factory worker that worked in the performance division (SVT, SS, SRT) they will tell you that american cars are built to shift smooth because americans think tight hard shift are synonomous with transmission problems, when in all reality hard tight shifts help add to the longevity in a transmission whereas smooth sloppy shifts are bad for it.
Another thing to consider is if youuse a power programmer such as a diablosport on a Diesel turbo you are not only changing shift points, but you are changing the fuel curve, timing, and upping the amount of PSI the turbo uses. So where there might be problems in a tranny is putting more horsepower than those transmissions are able to handle stock.
Many people mod one thing and think that's ok. The problem is many mods require you to do other things back to back like a torque convertor, or tighter suspension and braces.
A great example of that is if you add an exhaust and a cone filter you don't need to have your computer tuned. But if you were to add headers to the mix and adjustable cam gears then you have to add a custom tune, or power programmer otherwise you'll be running to lean and you can easily pop your motor.
Basically if you don't do your research you shouldn't be modding a car in the first place!
Tweetexactly what happens...and when you do ALL the things neccessary toallow the tranny to take such an increase, the cost of the mods over shadow the return on the dollar!!...i've just never seen it work out in the long run on a deisel engine! it can be difficult to prove the mod was a dirrect result of the problem in some cases, but that one is way too docummented...it's a no brainer
