I only suggested the auto due to the city driving, it would be so much easier. I've got a straight drive Mustang GT and it's a pain when you're in start and stop traffic.

Unless you don't want the car payments.
or, you could do a one pay lease...one lump payment for 2 years of driving...dodge is the one to watch for the best deals...last year you could drive a quad cab 4x4 dakota for 2800$ lump sum, for 2 yrs!! cant beat that!
they also did the pacifica for a one pay at 2400$ for 2 years of driving...it's an option

dude...set down the pipe, and pick up your keyboard...that's a bunch of bull!! research...toyota is quickly (and quietly) catching up on the recalls...the more cars you sell, the more quality concern you'll have. that stereotype is dead wrong. i agree, if you looking for a ride from the late 80's-early 90's...go foriegn...if your wanty something from this decade...there is no gap anymore. gm and ford have braught up quality to match, and in some cases, out perform toyota and honda...
sorry bro...but that stereotype is bull, and really ruffles my feathers!!

^lol that is a joke! Why is Ford then down and Toyota building more plants? Ive driven and seen the interiors/engines of both, and Toyota and Honda are much more durable/quality and lasting then any Ford you can buy. Focus is garbage, lol! Look at the interiors. The imports use good quality dyecast materal, while what you get in the Fords is plastic and fitted parts where you can actually see the fittings and seams where they are put together, not with Honda or Toyota. It is just not their technology, but their employees..they actually care about what they are doing, not just about a higher hourly wage and benes. I had a couple of Fords long time ago, but if iam going to spend my hard cash on a car it is going to be one that is better built. I don't care if it is made in usa or not. It is not only that but customer service..do they stand behind what they sell, or they don't know who you are after you buy one? I will say Lincoln Mercury is alittle better in customer service and their higher end cars.

Having wrenched on cars most of my life I recommend Honda or Toyota if you are looking for inexpesnive and reliable transportation.

They are easy to work on and they are dependable.

Maybe try to get one from a dealership. At least you will get some kind of warranty on it. You don't want to borrow any cash?, cause if you put 5k down, there are some car companies offering 0 % financing, so you will only be paying on the principle, without interest. Thats what i would do. Go to a Toyota or Honda dealership and tell them what they offer as far as percentage in financing. Even if it is 3% it is a good deal and many are offering other incentives as well. Maybe a good demo on an Accord or Camary. Imo, it is better than buying off the street.

Nissan, Honda, or Toyota. Whatever you do, don't buy American. I know that sounds terrible but you get a far superior product with foreign, and Japanese especially.

You can buy a mid 80s Corvette for next to nothing. I just passed one up on ebay that was a 89 Convertible red with newer Vette wheels and tires . Rebuilt motor and trans, new brakes and fresh paint job it went for 6500. IMHO it would be a hell of alot more stylish then some little rice burner. Believe it or not they dont get bad mileage either. Just dont wreck it parts are pricey.
