Tweetsorry to hear bro, i'll keep em in my prayers
Tweetthe mine i work at just layed off 95 workers..i wasnt one of them...thank god! How devastating to a small community like i live in to lose 100 jobs @ $80,000+ a year...That is alot of money taken out of the town.....poor guys ..its going to be a sad christmas for lots of people..alot of my friends, and men that worked for me!! Please say a prayer for them and there families as i am just devastaed...ihave been drunk all day...dont want to deal with it...this truly sucks!!!
TweetPoor guys! It makes no sense to me. I keep hearing how our unemployment rate has dropped, and the job market is the best it's ever been, yet everyone's either laid off, or on unemployment.
Seriously the major car companies are laying off thousands of employees, many companies are moving all of their production, PR , and customer service to other countries, Illegals are driving down wages. It's just hopeless!
I feel bad for so many people because the cost of living doesn't match the wages. Companies are paying despicable wages! Almost every single person I know makes less than $15.00 an hour. That's horrible!
How is someone supposed to support a $1000 mortgage, $800.00 in car payments, skyrocketing homeowners costs, insane gas prices, ever rising utilities, and still be able to have money to save for retirement and to take the family out every once in a while? It's absolutely sickening!
Makes me glad I own my own business. But even then the rising costs is killing my business because people don't have any extra money to spend. This government better get it's act straight quick or crime is going to start spiraling out of control!!
I'll say a prayer for your buddies pigmeat. I wish the best for them! NOONE DESERVES THIS!!
TweetI agree. The unemployment percentage may be at all-time lows, but the number of adequately paying jobs is nowhere near where it needs to be.

its almost impossible to pay bills and save anymore, the middle class will all become serfs to the major corporations and the rich..minimum wage hasnt gone up in over 10 yrs..soon real estate will be owned by only the rich and the rest will be renters.

TweetThere's another problem though. They keep proposing to bring up minimum wage, but we all know that means everyone else's wages stay the same. Last time they rose the minimum wage from $4.25 to $5.15 you didn't see any other wages go up. Just those ones. So it still won't really help.
There needs to be much much bigger tax breaks for people that make under 40k a year in order for people to be able to survive. Plus the government needs to make a universal healthcare system with the option of paying for additional coverage. That would atleast free up a little extra capital so people can start to save.
Another thing is they use peoples credit scores to kill their ability to get out of debt. Sure everyone screws up but they shouldn't be branded for life. They've made it so if your late on one payment on something, every other account you have's interest rates can spike. How the government thought that was smart is beyond me! Plus they automatically take a companies word and put things on your credit report without so much as giving you a chance to plead your case. I thought this country was based on the principles of "Innocent until proven guilty" so if thats how are system is supposed to be ran, then why are they automatically assuming we are guilty??
Sorry pigmeat didn't mean to hack your thread. I just get so worked up about all of the measure our government takes to keep people poor and in debt!!
Tweetthis post was heart felt. i wish all them the best pigmeat
Tweetthat f'n blows 80k gone its gonna be tough to find that kinda money elsewhere
TweetI'll keep them in my prayers! I know a manager who had to do the same thing you did a week before Christmas as well. He went through with it, but later quit and moved out of state because he just couldn't face the guys around the small town.
TweetWhat a crappy thing to do at this time of year. These families are supposed to be excited about the season and now they are going to be stressed out about finding new jobs or moving.

About the unemployment rate, it's all bullshit I found out. Most states only allow a person 12 months of unemployment before they get kicked off. So, if you don't find a job, you get off the list which makes the numbers look better. Atleast, that's what someone told me and I know Colorado has a 12 month maximum.
With that said, it's not the fact that people have jobs, it's the fact that there is becoming a wedge between upper and lower class. People who made $75k to $100k are now lucky if they can get $50 for the same job. I think this has alot to do with the damn media and their 'expert predictions'. They tell us gas will never be less than $3 a gallon, yet I just paid $2.05 yesterday. They tell us that home prices are dropping nation wide and scare people not to buy. Did you know that it was the Real Estate market during the early 2000 years that kept this country going? That's right. When rates dropped so low it caused the Real Esate market to increase in income so much, that we were able to balance things out and our spending helped keep alot of companies in business until the rest of the job market could stabilze. But, the worst thing the Feds can do is raise rates during layoffs. During times like this, people need to be able to access the equity in the homes to save money or get cash to get them by until they find something.
TweetVery sad.
Leaders did what others weren't willing to do, now they enjoy the things that others do not.

Tweet80k that is a shame. they are most likely not going to find that kind of pay in your area. the economy, im sorry is not on an upswing. they use statistics and #'s to use so it looks like their are more ppl working, but fact is the ppl that were making 50-100k that lost jobs, after their unemployment runs out, they are left to find much lower salary jobs with little to no benefits.
