Just wondering if anyone knows of any professional web building programs that are available that are...

      1. $100 or less

      and

      2. Professional enough to be able to have pictures enlarge when you click on them and different transitions into other pages ie. the page spirals as it morphs to the next page.

Any help would be great. I'm franchising my business to another part of the country and need to update my website and make it look more professional!

dreamweaver is the best web editing program... its more than 100$ though...

      you on mac or PC?

i would skip that fade effect.... its one of those things that can be done, but just because you can doesnt mean you should..... it doesnt look all that professional, unless your business is just a fun little thing.

Yeah I agree about the page transition...that is a waste to do that. Not all browsers support it and it also takes too long to load for someone on dial up. As far as creating thumbnails, Frontpage can do that and that is around $100 or slightly more I believe. BUT you have to remember if it resizes the pic as a thumbnail automatically, it still has to load the whole large picture so that slows down loading time. I usually make 2 images, one small and one large and link the small one to the large one (opening it into a new window or linking to another page with the large image and the information for that product, etc.)

I've been doing webdesign for over 10yrs.....still do it on the side and wishing I didn't get rid of all my clients now that I just gave notice here at this job!

      Oh well, live and learn...

Basically what I want to do is to make it so people can click on the pictures and they enlarge. I don't think that dial up will be a problem for me because usually the people that are my customers tend to spend the extra money on things like cable or dsl internet connections. Not trying to stereotype dial up users, I'm just saying that people that will spend thousands on closets are the same type of people that will spend extra for faster internet.

In your opinion Lily what would be the best program for a beginner? BTW by beginner I mean beginner in the aspect of building a web page. I have built a web page with the free yahoo site builder before. But now I need a more professional edge to my site since it will be a multi state company.

still regardless of what everyone says I do want to have a spinning transition from one page to the next. Kind of like when the page becomes blurry, morphs together, then turns into the next page. Is that very difficult to do?

its usually done through java script.... search the web for a script that will do this, and you put it in your code for the page..

i still say its more of an amature looking effect for web design, but if its waht you want then go for it.

Frontpage has the transition...just click a button and good to go! You can select exactly how you want the pages to load, too!

Frontpage is easier for a beginner....I use it myself, but also do free hand coding. Frontpage has some cool things...I believe it's cheaper than Dreamweaver,too.....

      Good Luck!

So, how hard is it to design to your web page with one of these programs. And, once you get the program, what else do you need to do to get the page in place. Don't you have to purchase a domain name or something?

      Ok, here are my options,
"Macromedia Studio 8 - Flash - Dreamweaver - Fireworks" or
"Macromedia Studio Mx 2004 (Cold Fusion-Dreamweaver-Fireworks-Flash-Freehand)"

Are these the right programs? The first is 255.6 MB and the second is 652.5 MB
