It seems that methane gas pockets, which can escape from the ocean floor, can get into the air and cause piston engines to stall. The levels worked with were less than 5% methane gas in the air. They did an experiment with an old piston propeller plane, like the ones that disappeared in 1940's while flying to Ft Lauderdale. They put methane gas in the air while the engines were running. At a rate of 2% methane gas in the air, the engines stalled. Also, Since the methane gas is lighter than air, the planes were getting fake altitude readings. The planes appeared to be going to high, when they acutally weren't. So pilots in the flight simulators tried to lower their planes to compensate. And crash, right into the ground, or water. So not only does methane sink ships, make engines stall, but it also give fake altitude readings. All things that spell disaster. And yes, certain areas of the Bermuda triangle are known to have methane gas pockets. Example number 2. Methane gas in lighter than air. If a ship, no matter how big, crosses over an active methane gas pocket, it will sink like a ton of bricks.
it has been proven in experiment after experiment.

Thats cool, they came up with a logical explanation of why they sink or crash...So where is the explanation of where the debri disappears to? How about the strecth of fuel and oil slicks that are miles upon miles long? The two C-133's that crashed in the 60's ( identicla planes, seperate occasions) had 80 thousand pounds of xtra fuel and 50 pounds of cargo (crates, boxes, bags...all floatable) yet all that was found was a liferaft and some other insignificant item...

where does everything else go? 80 thousand pounds of fuel would leave a slick so damn big you'd have to try to miss it, even in such a large area... or how about the fuel/ oil it takes to move a 600ft long cargo ship, where did that go? It takes forever to dilute fuel or oil, so the Gulf Stream conclusion does'nt quite cut it for me....

They say the real shape of it is more like an irregular square that goes farther south than cuba, and includes the panhandle of florida, and also all the way up to Chesapeke bay in Maryland! They deemed it the 'Bermuda Triangle' to make it sound interesting to attract attention to it.

You were mentioning alot of the disappearances, well here's one of my fav's.... In the Bahamas a plane requested to come in for a landing. The control tower gave them the ok. They plane was on they're radar screen and was only a few hundred feet from landing when all of a sudden it just disappeared! No boom, no noise, just gone! Right before the control towers eyes. It disappeared not only in front of their eyes, but also off of their radar screen. They attempted to radio the plane again, but there was no response. That landing strip is only like 50 feet from the ocean, so the next morning search crews scanned the whole area looking for the debris. There was nothing. The freakiest thing is the water was only 15 feet deep from the coast to a mile out so they are able to see the bottom of the ocean floor all around where that plane disappeared, so where did it go??

There is alot of interesting books you can read that have many different theories. I think the one I like best is it has to do with 'Atlantis'. If you do alot of research you'll find that both the Aztecs & Mayans, as well as the egyptians (who both mind you lived at the same time but did not know the other existed) both talk about a great land that would stretch across the atlantic to a new land. Obviously Europe and all those countries is new land to the Aztecs & Mayans, as the America's would be new land to the Egyptians. They both talked about a civilazation of powerful people that had 'Magical capabilities'. And they both talked about the great flood that wiped out that island that stretched the atlantic ocean.

It is said that this civilization had figured out how to alter gravity with some sort of diamond. That they were able to make things defy the laws of gravity. You might start laughing at this and say yeah right....well answer this......Both the egyptians and the mayan's have in their hyroglyphics drawings of flying vehicles. Both have architectural designs and massive mile long paintings that can only be aligned like that if you were able to look down at it from high altitudes. Being that there were no mountains around, the ships they drew would only make sense.

They say that when the island sank into the ocean during the great flood so did the diamond (or whater it is). They think that this diamond is the cause of all the odd occurances in the so called 'Triangle'. Now heres where it gets weird! John edgar casey is a psychic/prophet from the early 19th century that is very famous. He predicted alot of things and one of them that is still ignored to this day is about the atlanteans, this diamond, and that atlantis would rise from the oceans in the 1960's. Well your probably thinking that never happened. WRONG! Near bermuda there is a structure that rose in the 1960's that is a road. Why is there a road in the ocean? Also there is a temple that rose up partways. um why is there a temple in the ocean? I'll tell you how, because atlantis stretched from bahamas all the way to italy. It was the beginning of atlanits. Why has our society or government not accepted it? Well of course because it would rewrite history and cause alot of problems.

Here's another boggling fact. Plato said that beyond the pillars of hercules was a great land that stretched from there to another land across the ocean. So even well respected philosophers from history speak of this island. Is it that all of the ancient civilizations and people were all hallucinating? Or is our society so damn skeptical that they can't ever believe anything out of the ordinary? Last time I checked the triangle isn't to ordinary to me!

BTW there is an amazing book called Into the Bermuda Triangle that was just released within the last 2 years. Get it, because it will explain alot of things.
s much as i'm infatuated with the lost city of Atlantis it would be hard for me to believe it has any part in these strange ( and often) occurrences. Obviously i don't rule it out at all, just that it would take alot for me to buy into it. would i like it to be the answer? sure, i would...It's still a bit to fairy tail "ish" for me right now...

Like you said, rewriting history would be a biotch lol...

As far as i'm concerned, anything that happened in the 1700's-1800's does'nt matter to me. technogy ( or the lack of) leaves way too many holes in any argument..Things can be explained on either side of the debate. There is an abundance of unexplained phenomena during the 1900's- current that we can debate upon with factual evidence.
