Bought a lithograph print...
I don't know who here is familiar with artists and their artwork but I recently purchased an original framed print by Marcel Mouly named "Les 2 Asiatique" which translates to "The 2 Asian Women." Marcel Mouly is an 87 year old impressionist painter and the only living artist that studied with Picasso at the French Art Aceademy. It's a very nice print and only cost me $450.00 plus tax. I thought this one might be a good investment piece one day, though, I doubt I would ever let it go.

Yes, pic!!!! I graduated in fine arts, but I never heard of him....
Does it tell how many copies there is of it? it is usually a number close by his signature, like 6/10 which means the sixth copy out of 10 (total copies made out of the original).
Re: Bought a lithograph print...
You might want to get an appraisal on it Js. Some auctions houses will do it for free or for a small charge.

Curious to see a pic of your new lithograph.
Re: Bought a lithograph print...
Iam not too familiar with art and how it is price, but i think i heard that of course if it is original it is of much greater value than a print. Then you have to find out if the print is of the actual original or a print of a copy and the # of times it was copied. It is easy to get duped, by someone saying it is an original print, when in actuality it is merely a print of a copy of the original. Big dif in value.

Mick I bought my print from an art store in the fashion show mall in Las Vegas. It is a lithograph print # 243 of 300 with number and real signature by artist. Plus, they give you a certificate of authenticity in the mail. Lithographs are prints of actual paintings and it is a process that can take several days to complete. I have had art classes and used to paint canvas with acrylics myself. I did not go buy this at some garage sale or off an individual, but from a nation-wide art store. An original painting by this artist is in the thousands at a minimum.

Well excuse me Sir,lol! I didn't know you had such vast knowledge. :surr: What i was saying, while not knowing where you received this print from, that I have heard of ppl thinking they are buying a copy of an original, when in actuality they paid $$ for a copy of a copy of the original, which is much less in value, if not almost worthless. It has been done many times to get more than what the lith is worth, but since you went to a reputable art store then i doubt this. I was merely throwing something out there. Damn, you are a sensitive *****!
