I was watching CNN once where they say Ireland is the best country with the best economy now..lol
HAHAHA! I live not even 5 minutes from New Port Richey. I got a steal when we bought our house but the prices just don't match the wages. We paid $97,000 for our 1300 sq ft house with 1/3 acre, in a deed restricted area (which keeps the neighborhood looking good). I put $15,000 down and my mortgage with homeowners is $1000.00 a month with a 5.3% interest rate. When you add in a car pymt, car insurance, health ins, energy bills, water, trash pickup, food, and of course gas the monthly bills per person since I live with my fiancee is an average of about $1500-$1700 each. That doesn't include any extra's like medicine, oil changes, and does not include cable tv (which I don't even have).

The point I'm trying to make is if you make $10 an hour over 40 hours, you will bring home approximately $350 a week, which equals $1400 a month. Notice how the number is lower than what the bills equal! My Fiancee was making $14 hr in Maryland as an exec admin asst for the government. Now 3 years later the highest wage she is able to find here in good ol West Florida as of tonights job search was $8.50 - $9.50 an hour! How is someone supposed to live on these wages??? I'm so sick of people saying how the economy is so great, yeah maybe if you grew up in previous generations and requirements weren't so steep! Now they expect a freaking masters degree for you to break the $15 hr mark. All the good jobs went to the people that finished college in the 90's. My generation and on is getting thoroughly screwed with jobs!

Our country sucks DIGGI. If you want my opinion bro if you can leave this country do it as fast as you can because there's not many opportunities left. If we keep electing uneducated hicks into the presidency we're going to be a 3rd world country in a matter of time anyway. Besides China is the next one in line to be a superpower. It's only a matter of time.

I agree with you bro.. everything you said so far makes a big sense.. the economy is nowhere where it was before.. and did you notice the food bill recently.. well I used to have my car filled with bags of food now I get a few bags and that alone will be close to $250 - $300 a week.. especially for people who workout, diet like we all do here.

I am not a Doctor, nor an Astronout... I do give big props to engineers and other folks with higher education but still..I wonder how long this will last.. oh wait probably until Bush is running the country..

Yeah exactly. My food bill is $400-$500 for me and my girl for the month. Thats scrimping too. Beef once a week, and chicken the rest of the time. We basically go for whatever is on sale. I definetely can't afford to get lunch meat right now. Just too costly.

Thats my problem too. I started my own business that thrived last year. Then I moved to a new area and it's not as successful here. If business doesn't pick up soon I'm screwed because I don't have a degree so I can't get a good paying job. Even if I did have a degree they basically mean shit unless it's a masters. Half of my friends work at retail stores and have bachelors degree's. So many companies are downsizing and cutting costs by chopping half the work force, so they can ship the jobs to freaking India. College grads are a dime a dozen these days, so alot of jobs require a masters to get anything remotely good. The bad thing about Florida is there is so many damn illegal immigrants that the construction industry is really bad down here. A job that paid me $16 hr in Maryland offered me $7 here. That's how much illegals have killed the wages for trade workers.

I love how all of these damn Bush supporters always have excuses for their redneck hero. If you look at all of the problems we have, they are all things we could've avoided.

If Bush would stop illegal immigration wages would go back up, crime rates would lower, and there would be more financial assistance for true Americans.

If he didn't invade Iraq there wouldn't be so many dead soldiers, there would be more money to apply to our defecit, more money to go to things like small business growth and education, and the world wouldn't hate america so much, plus gas prices wouldn't be so high. His father left Iraq for a reason, because there is no good exit strategy.

Because of Bush and his policies companies now can move their businesses to other countries like India taking thousands of jobs from americans. Capitol One is based out of India, so is Norton (antivirus software), Ford has a major plant in Mexico. He actually gives them a tax break for this. Unbelievable.

He doesn't actively make any policies to help reduce greenhouse gases and has backed out of that international clean air association. Yeah who cares that polar caps are melting.

Did I mention that he didn't resign the bill that made the sale of Uzi's, Ak 47's and other automatic weapons illegal.

This country is becoming a freaking dictatorship and the majority of people are blind to it.

here is a quote from george w bush jr speaking in New Orleans, Louisiana referring to the executive order making federal funding available to faith-based organizations..........

"It's not a dictatorship in Washington, but I tried to make it one in that instance."

This country is so freaking screwed!

I don't know man. It kind of all goes in cycles. Right now things may seem tough, but ride it out and better days are sure to follow. JMO

Hey Diggi you could always try to take over one of the small islands in florida and claim it as your own country. You can arm yourself with paintball guns and smoke bombs..........

Bro I'm an engineer and I work for the space program. I don't make enough to afford a house in Orlando. The average home in Orlando is around $254k. The most I can qualify for on my salary is $200k and that's with one of those funky interest only ARM plans. I would never do that.

But to Diggi, just hang in there bro. Like everyone else said move to another city. Leaving the country won't help. Other countries are more screwed than we are, especially in Europe. 20% unemployment in Europe. Most countries hate Americans so you wouldn't get hired anyways.

Excellent point I forgot about everyones love for americans right now

I hear you on the housing bro. Thats why I moved an hour north of Tampa. Problem is now with gas prices and tolls I would literally spend about $22 a day just to get to a decent paying job in Tampa. Once you deduct that from your earnings you end up making just as much as if you took a crappy job near your home. Thats probably where your screwed. I guarantee you could find decent priced housing, but you'll have to travel atleast an hour to get there. Maybe 2 hrs with Orlando's traffic
