TweetYeah, i agree^ alot of ppl have dell and i never heard anything bad about their product. Hell, my bank all they have is Dell.
TweetFUZO, honestly if I was you I wouldn`t buy any of those "known" brand computers. I.E Dell, Gateway, Compaq etc.. why do I say this ?? when you buy their computer most likely they will give you warranty of 1 year (anything more than that) you have to pay "extra". Now the makers of DELL , GATEWAY etc.. know that in one year something will give up (your hardware).. most likely the motherboard will not funcion properly, or the sound card or something related.. if you go to any store where they fix computers and you look at their "to fix" list.. all you will find is Gateway, DELL, etc models.
Also, if lets say the motherboard dies you MUST buy DELL motherboard.. all their products are licensed and copyrighted which sucks. I had 'em all.
What I did.. was I bought only the tower PowerSPEC PC . and you can do whatever you want to it.
My best advice to you is if you`re looking for something that will last longer then DELL, GATEWAY, COMPAQ, HP.. pay some extra cash.. buy a cheap tower (unknown brand) and then get your own motherboard, add as much as RAM as you want, any sound and video card and more.. any computer tech will do all this for you for uncostly price.
Tweetu are in the wrong section fuzzy nuts
TweetNext one I buy Fuzo is a Dell. They make damn good computers imo.

Tweetget sometihng that's over 1.5ghz fast (2ghz would be better, but even 1 is ok for everyday stuff) get as much ram as u can... u can never have too much ram... i'd say minimum 512mb..... double that would be ideal... hard drive around 60 to 100gig would be nice... u can also get more or less depending on ur computer use and data storage.... but u can always add more later on...... hard drives aren't that expensive...
make sure it's got a nice video card... good sound cards are nice too, not neccessary tho... a cheap one will do too...
also get a nice flat screen monitor if ur buying a monitor as well...
those are the basics.. the most important stuff... everything else (accessories, etc) are not as neccessary...
i'd get a pentium btw
oh. make sure it's got a nice warranty with it...
it doesn't have to be a brand name..... most of the time u end up paying just for that... the name...

TweetIt's really up to your preference. If you are failry computer savy then building your own system will suit you better. But if you are not up to switching hardrives and putting together complete systems on your own then go with the Dell. If you just to do some web browsing and typing then a cheap computer will do, but if you want to edit photo's and video or anything with high end graphics then a custom system is a must!
TweetI always build my own. Brand name comps are hard to upgrade and most down right suck for many reasons. But Dell does make great laptops and I do own one. If you have to get a brand name then Dell is the way to go. My current system is as follows.
P4 3,400 mhz 1 mb L2 cache 800mhz fsb 478 pin. 1 gig pc3200 400mhz ddr ram. G-force 6800oc 256mb ddr agp. sata harddrives 120,160,250 gigs ide ata harddrives 160,250 and 16x dual dvd burner and 360 watt altec lansing ada885 speakers. There's more but I don't want to type anymore.. It's not the best but it's damm close.
