TweetMultiple Linear Who????
TweetTo better myself as an appraiser I'm going to start studying Multiple Linear Regression Analysis.
Any of you guys or girls ever used or learned this stuff in any of your College math classes?
I don't want to learn it but if I ever have to defend one of my appraisals in court I want to be able to say "prove me wrong, or kiss my ass".
TweetNever heard of it. You might want to do a google search on it.
TweetI don't know as even Google has heard of it!You might want to do a google search on it.
"If any man is in Christ he is a new creation. Old things are passed away, behold, all things are made new"--II Corinthians 5:17
"I am speechless in Your presence now
I'm astounded as I consider how
You have shown us
A love that leaves us
Speechless"

Train like a nightmare. Those hills that kick your butt today will kiss it tomorrow.
TweetIt is the process of "regressing" a set of data values (or points) into a curve (or line). Use a lot by insurance actuaries and other "real" data analyists. I never had any classes like that, but it sounds pretty cool.

TweetNo idea , sorry............................
TweetSKIDDA MERINKY DO WHAT?
"WHERE THE MIND GOES, THE BODY WILL FOLLOW."
"I THINK I CAN TAKE YOU"," YA, KEEP LOOKING"
"LEAD, FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
TweetHeard of it but never done it. From what I hear it's not that hard. If you are good at linear series interpolation this should be cake. I think it all deals with the Newton-Raphson or Lagrange points. But I could be wrong.

three doodoo is back! Hide your women!
TweetOk, I've looked into it more and yes, it is used to determine a certain value based on the data entered into a specific module. You use a graph.
Well, I talked with a guy at the State and he said I can learn it if I want but there's no real place for it in what I do. Apparantly you need a hell of a lot of data for it to be accurate in appraising real estate. If there is a hell of a lot of data availabe, then I don't need it because my current methods would be just as accurate.
Needless to say, I'm not going to crash my brain trying to learn something I wont ever use. Thanks for the input.
Tweet...and not to mention that simple applications like Excel do this type of thing for you as well. Not just linear estimations but polynomials as well.
We need a nerd forum here at fitnessgeared...for me especially.
TweetMay i ask what type of real estate you appraise. Must be commercial to be so definitive.
TweetThat's just the thing, I appraise single family residential and small income properties. No commercial. And you are right, I don't need to be so definitive for the scope of my assignments.Originally Posted by mick-G

TweetI rarely see appraisors getting sued.
