Everyone please keep the medically needy and those who are dependant on medicaid in mind when you vote. I just got back from a meeting with the GNHA (Ga. Nursing Home Assoc.) and for some reason, when the feds want to make cuts, they pick on the frail and poor. It is absolutely disgusting!!! I don't know how many much you guys know about healthcare, but when people reach a certain point in a terminal illness and death is imminent, they may go on hospice. Hospice, without getting too involved with a deffinition offers a variety of services for the patient and their family. One of the proposed changes that the asshole feds are considering is stopping preventative maintenance drugs to those on hospice. These include ulcer meds, bp meds, cholesterol meds, etc.... so if you're dying it's considered a waste for you to be on these meds. Your comfort and well being is of no consequence, you'll be dead soon, wo why waste money on a perscription that you may not even finish? I'm sure everyone is aware of the rising costs of perscription drugs, right? Well under the new budget for medicaid if the patient's income is above 1128/month they are not eligable for medicaid. I know of several people who's drug bill alone is around a grand per month. The list goes on and on. These heartless, souless policians won't ever have to worry about one of their loved ones being on medicaid, they have plenty of money to provide private nursing care for them. Most of these people have never been in a nursing home, or spoken to someone who is dependant on medicaid for quality of life. The've even proposed cuts to the Peachcare for Kids program here in Ga., a program for those families with children who are not eligable for medicaid but unable to afford the costs of healthcare.
Please consider the elderly and those not fortunate enough to afford basic medical needs in this election. Both parties are guilty of preying on these helpless souls. Educate yourselves and vote informed.
