      Default Daily Verse 8/26/04

      Revelation 22:18-21

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Makes you wonder what will happen to people who write other bibles than the KJV

Dont you mean it makes you wonder what will happen to those who wrote KJV? The KJV was not the original text, it was written in Hebrew and Greek. All the KJV did was translate the Hebrew and Greek into the first english version. Then and the english language changed and the Bible was rewritten in common use english. That's like saying we should not rewrite the Bible in Chinese for the Chinese. But in God's commanment to us we should spread the word to all corners of the earth. That means we should translate it in their language.

Now, what that verse is really saying is this; no man should add to or take away writtings in the Bible. For instance, "I don't murder, rape or steal so I don't think God would get upset with me for getting drunk every weekend." That's taking away from the Bible. It clearly reads "do not get drunk on wine". They say wine because that was the only form of alcohol at that time. When homosexuals say that their god loves them, they are adding to the Bible what is not there. The Bible does not say God disaproves of homosexuals who don't believe in him, it says he disapproves of all homosexuality. When people preach things that are perversions of the truth they are in fact adding to the Bible and that is what that verse is about. To warm people, you better take this word in it's entirety, as is and not preach something that is not in here or else you will suffer.

Poor choice on my part although ill argue the fact that the KJV is the MOST accurate translation of the bible into english. There are whole verses missing out of the NIV in Psalms. What I was more referring to is the "Readers Digest" version. All these bibles that change around and in some cases delete the word.

Ok, I'm with you now. However, I don't think the KJV is the most accurate. If you look at Greek writting they can have one word that takes us five words to translate while at the same time having multiple translations for that one greek word. Trust me the KJV is not the most accurate. As a matter of fact the "666" sign of the beast is actually translated incorrectly. The Greek translation was supposed to be "616". Which stood for one of the Roman Ceasars. (I don't have my stuff in front of me) The seven headed beast referred to in Revelations were the seven Ceasars of Rome during this time. The numbers used in Revelation (which was written in Greek) were used for names. This was a common practice in those days. Every letter in the Greek alpahbet has a numerical value and the Greeks used to play games trying to guess someone's name based on the numerical value. I've read and watched historical documentations on this; it was quite amazing how they did it. Anyways, the last Ceasar before the final destruction of most of the Jews by God (using the Persians and Meads lead by King Cyrus) had a name who's numerical value was equal to 616. The KJV translated the Greek wrong and so we are taught the number 666. Every Greek scholar of today will agree with this but when the original KJV came out no one dared to challenge it.

Also, did you know the Catholics didn't stop preaching from the Greek version until the 1900's. Rightfully so, any religion that teaches you can donate financially to the church and have your dead ancestors prayed out of purgatory certainly doesn't want you to be able to read the truth. The Catholic church still has many of it's old practices in practice today. The priest discourages the reading of the Bible becasue they don't want the congregation to know the truth. Priet will tell you to confess your sins to then, when the Bible clearly says to confess your sins to God. Salvation is by faith and faith alone, not works. And no donation of any amount is going to change someone elses destination. I used to be Catholic so I know this for a fact. Pretty crazy, huh?

Did not know about the translation messups. I was always taught in the English language that the KJV is the most accurate translation.

As far as Catholocism, I was baptised catholic and attented catholic church regularly. It was not till I met my wife that we started to go to a bible preaching church. Opened my eyes. Ill tell you the same thing I tell everyone. You and I can agree to disagree all day long. As long as we do not disagree on the plan of salvation. It seems like we are on the same page and I look forward to spreading the gospel with you.

Not to mention those who replace she for he when referring to God the Spirit or make other alterations to be more inclusive and not offend the feminists or homosexuals. IMO if someone considers the Bible offensive they should point that finger back at themselves.

One of my husbands "old" friends committed suicide over a year ago and he just found out about it. My husband wasn't saved at the time he hung out with him and when he was born again they lost contact. My point is this... If someone you know were to die today could you say they knew who the Lord was, could you say that you witnessed whether they received the truth or not. When I found out about his friend it got me thinking about that. What do you think?

I feel his pain. I have lost many friends during my life. My biological father comited suicide when I was 21 and I went off the deep end. Started to drink, do drugs, go to night clubs all night and into the morning (that's Atlanta for you). I was very seperated from God and when I returned to him I turned my back on that lifestyle and along with it all those people. Several have died from that lifestyle and I regret not sharing my faith and the differences it made in my life. I wish I had made a stonger effort to reach some of them but I didn't.

I did get to share in one of the most touching experiences of my life this last July. My oldest friend got married in Jaimaca this year and I was the best man. Now this guy and I were both raised Catholic and we both attended this vaction bible school during the summer after 8th grade. It was a Baptist church which is quite different than Catholic. Anyways, we were both saved during that summer and I made a huge change in my actions from that day on. It wasn't until this July when we were out on the beach talking about life and such that my friend told me he doesn't feel saved. I discussed that day with him and he admitted for the first time that he never felt anything that day and that he just did what I did and played along. So I prayed with him right then and there and he cried like I did when I was first saved. It was amazing to see the immediate transformation of him the rest of that weekend. You see, this was a guy who liked to drink and have a good time. He said he lost all desire to drink and I didn't see him drink the rest of the time there. I have never lead anyone to Christ until that moment but man it felt so natural and it was so easy. And I know that this friend will see me in Heaven. I'm just sorry about those who have passed when I was too scared to say what they needed to hear. I honestly feel that will be part of my judgement when my day comes. Why didn't I reach out to those who needed? After all, they were my friends, and they would have gave me the time of day to listen. Whether they agreed or not is their choice but the fact that I didn't share is not a choice, it's plain old disobedience.

You may not have shared but you can't live in regret. You are forgiven and your past is under the blood of Christ. You just have to tell your soul or your flesh to bow so your spirit can be in control. A person who walks in the spirit is mindful of the things of God and is unstoppable!
