TweetI no know? I kinda dumb on the electrical. It better to go to the car stereo store and have them install. They will also put a switch for you. It not worth the stress to do yourself, imo lol!
TweetI just bought a new car and do not want to screw it up this early in its life. At the same time I am still hurting from that down payment and don’t want to pay someone $100 to install my sub.
Can anyone point me in a direction where I can learn how to install it myself? I am just going to hook the RCAs to the rear speaker. What I don’t know how to do is:
1. connect the power so that it will turn off and on with the car
2. get the power wire through the floor board to the battery.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

It is a pretty simple process as long as I don't have to drill a hole through the firewall for the power wire.
Now my only questions is where do i connect the remote wire for a factory head unit on a car without a power antennae?
Thanks guys
TweetThe remote wire goes from the amp to the head unit..... The wire should be blue and labeled remote turn on... If not you can always splice the remote wire from the amp into the red power wire going into the factory head unit...... Also crutchfield has a pretty good tech line..... I know it's free if you purchase something from them.....
good luck..
also what type of car is it?
not sure what you mean about the power intenna???
don't waste money at best buy or circuit city to install your system, those guys are morons to say the least.....

TweetThanks pimp, but I think I will just wait and have it installed. I checked out the firewall pretty good this morning. There is one location where a bundle of wires come thru, but it seems to have some type of foamy rubber around it. Tight fit to say the least.
Two alternative locations for the remote wire are the fuse box or the antennae wire if it is one of those that goes up/down when the car is turned on/off
Maybe when my girl comes over tonight I can take a few pictures.
Cheers
Tweetlook into jl audio they make subs with the amp that look just like part of your car
TweetI've done this a few times now. And honestly it's a pain in the ass and worth the $100 to pay someone.
-You'll have to run a wire from the battery to the amp.
-I've never seen a factory deck have RCA outputs. You'll have to either buy an amp that has high-level inputs (just hook up the speaker wires to the amp) or you'll have to wire in a high-level to RCA adaptor.
-I've also never seen a factory deck with a remote on wire. Your best bet is to hook this up to an ignition controlled power source. So that the amp is on whenever the car is on.
I recently installed a sub and amp in my workout partners 04 explorer and it took us approx 6 hours and alot of curseing.
