I am just curious if anyone here has been addicted to anything? Drugs, alcohol, sex, sex drugs and alcohol, money, work, gym, yourself. Anything! Just curious and if you overcame it how?

I'm trying to understand a friend who is addicted to pot, and I just can't relate, I just can't understand why if he wants to stop smokign pto he still feels liek he has to every single day.

when i quit training after an injury 7 years ago i drank a 12 pack everyday and twice that on the weekends. every day i woke up feeling like crap. that lasted about 1 year. one day i looked in the mirror and saw a 160# guy with a gut hangin out over my britches. i just quit and got back to the gym.

I don't want to discuss what I've been addicted to but trust me...once they get the drug out of their system completely, it's all in their willpower. However, I don't think pot is a physically addictive drug imo. And it DEFINATELY isn't shit compare to coke, morphine, oxys, heroin, etc. Usually it takes being at the lowest point possible for one to realize they need to quit. I have lost 4 friends (one best friend) to drug overdoses so I am speaking from experience. Good luck with your friend bro.

yeah, i was always under the impression it was more of a menetal addiction, not a physical one, i think he just doesn't care enough to quit. . .i felt myself kinda becoming a addicted to alcohol when i first came to college, and like you said, i hit this low point, and i said this si stupid, why can't i just hav ea few bears socially and chill with my friends, why do i have to drink a bottle of JD and not remember anythign waking up with random bruises. I basically don't drink anymore at all, and i've been overall just better feeling and more ambitious.

      Been there.
The motions of the habit are a big factor that makes it hard to shake something you`ve done daily over a long period of time. And more that would take too long to get into.
